Zweitakt-Verbr ennungsk raftmaschine.
Two-stroke internal combustion engine. The invention relates to a two-stroke internal combustion engine with air supply through inlet slots that are successively covered by the piston and with outlet slots opposite the inlet slots. According to the invention, the inlet slots initially covered by the piston during the expansion stroke extend over a larger cylinder circumference than the inlet slots later covered by the piston during the expansion stroke.
Expediently, at least the inlet slots initially covered by the piston during the expansion stroke extend over more than half the circumference of the cylinder. This special design creates an air wall for the air flow entering directly opposite the outlet slots, which significantly reduces the escape of air through the outlet slots and thus reduces the need for scavenging air.
The inlet slots that are initially covered by the piston during the expansion stroke can be separated from the air supply line by an automatic closing element. An embodiment of the subject invention is shown schematically in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows the cylinder of a single-acting two-stroke internal combustion engine in section. The upper half of Fig. 2 shows a section along the line II-II. the lower half of FIG. 2 shows a section along the line III-III of FIG. 1.
The air is supplied to the cylinder 1 through rows of inlet slots that are consecutively covered by the piston 2. During the expansion stroke of the piston, the row of inlet slots 4, then the exhaust slots 5 and then the row of inlet slots 3 are covered first. In order to prevent the exhaust gases from entering the inlet line, the same is closed against the upper row of slots by an automatic backlash valve 7 as long as the pressure in the cylinder is greater than in the air supply line.
The upper row of slots (slots 4) extends over a larger part of the cylinder circumference than the lower row of slots (slots 3), namely the slots 4 are arranged approximately on Z / 3 of the cylinder circumference, while the outlet slots 5 and the Inlet slots 3 each extend over a third of the cylinder circumference. This has the effect that the air flows entering through the slots 4a in the direction of arrows 9 from both sides put a wall in front of the exhaust slots 5, which prevents the immediate exit, in particular of the air flow entering through the slots 4b opposite the exhaust slots 5.
Of course, the lower inlet slots can also extend beyond half the cylinder circumference, but not as far as the upper inlet slots. The supply of the inlet air through the channels 6 and 10 can take place from the same or from different lines and in this case with the same or different pressure. If the exhaust slots 5 reach up over the upper row of the inlet slots, it is advisable to arrange a controlled closing element behind the exhaust port 8. The air barrier in front of the outlet slots is displaced when the slots 4a are directed towards the middle of the slots 4b.
The application of the invention to double-acting machines is readily apparent from the example shown for a specialized machine.
