Fig. 4 zeigt eine ähnliche Konstruktion.
In ruig.
Arrangement for the deletion of raw tension arches. In order to reliably extinguish a high-voltage arc, for example in the case of funk lines, switches, fuses, the space between the electrodes must be provided if the arc is interrupted at the zero point, for example; be electrically sealed off at the same time as the interruption. In order to achieve this, the arc under 01 has been extinguished up to now. At very high performance, however, it is difficult to manufacture the oil switch with the required level of security.
Attempts have previously been made to cool the switch contacts or electrodes of spark gaps by blowing in gas and in this way to support the extinguishing effect. Such devices can only be used for small outputs, in particular small voltages. since a direct cooling of the electrodes from the inside, even with thin-walled electrodes, has to fail due to the insufficient speed of the heat exchange. The cold takes a certain amount of time in the metal in order for the cooling liquid to penetrate through the metal to the arc.
As a rule, with high powers it will not be possible to cool the base point so that the arc is thereby extinguished. Just as ineffective as imperfect cooling through cold transfer is imperfect blowing, which is sufficient for smaller voltages and fails for larger voltages. The high-voltage arcs, with their high ionic speed due to the high voltage, have a much greater strength than the loose low-voltage arcs.
This is also the reason why the previously used compressed air ventilation with lower pressure would have to fail, because at the lower pressures the gas speed is no longer sufficient to abduct the electrons from the area of the arc and pass through it the high ion velocity to tear stronger arcs.
According to the invention, a flawless extinguishing of arcs with high performance and high voltage is to be achieved using compressed gas. This is achieved in the arrangement according to the invention in that the gas pressure slo is high, that the gas through its speed in the area of the arc influences the direction of the ion avalanches emanating from one electrode to such an extent that the ions formed reach the opposite electrode not meet.
This effect can be achieved most safely if the gas velocity in the area of the arc is approximately equal to or exceeds the ion velocity. For this it is necessary that the gas has a sufficiently high pressure, and it is also necessary that this pressure is not only present when flowing in, but also remains at the point of separation. This can be achieved if the flow curves are influenced in this way by suitable shaping of the contacts and, if necessary, also by corresponding shaping of a casing surrounding the contacts.
that a gas cushion of elevated pressure is created between the contacts and a sufficient passage speed is still possible, please include.
By using a gas at high pressure that flows out at high speed, the advantage can also be achieved that the electrodes are intensively cooled. This cooling can also be intensified by using special means.
In order to achieve the effect intended by the invention with certainty, it is still advisable to take all those measures in the formation of the individual parts which are suitable for increasing the effect of the compressed air on the ions. Some exemplary embodiments are shown in the drawing to explain the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a spark gap in which the electrode 1 surrounds the electrode 2 concentrically, so that between 1 and 2 a ring-shaped. Arc arises. The electrode 1 is of a sheath 3, which can be made of metal or an insulating material in order to give. The compressed gas is supplied through the openings 8 of the shell 3, so that the space between pole 1 and pole 2 is blown from here. In addition, the pole 2 can be made hollow and provided with openings 9, from which the pressurized gas also flows out.
The openings 9 are expediently arranged at the points where the base points of the arcs are set so that they are blown directly.
In Fig. 2, an embodiment is shown in which the compressed gas supply is not permanent, but in which the cooling by the compressed gas when the arc arises is passed directly or indirectly into. The electrodes are again labeled 1 and 2; 3 is again a sleeve in which the pole 2 is attached directly. The compressed gas flows out of the opening 9 di rectly between the poles 1 and 2. It egt-.
Here flows a vessel 15, via a valve 16. Which is controlled by an electromagnet 17. The electromagnet is excited by the arc current via the line 4 and the resistor 18, so that cooling and blowing by means of pressurized gas start immediately when a rollover occurs. To avoid delays. if possible, relieved valves known per se should be used. Appropriately, you can make the opening of the valve so that when there is a strong current, i.e. a powerful arc. larger amounts of pressurized gas flow in.
You can of course 'also use an indirect triggering of the valve, such that springs or other energy storage devices are attached to the valve, which are in a tensioned state when the arc is not present and are triggered by the arc current. Very low currents would then be sufficient to make the valve respond. The valves can have preload such that with increasing current the. Pressurized gas supply is increased. Compressed gas reserves can also serve as energy storage.
If the pressure gas effect is to be increased, two or more valves can be provided that support each other. This also ensures that if one valve fails, at least the other still responds. It is essential for the effect that the compressed gas is held together by an envelope. This not only prevents the arc from evading, but also simultaneously achieves the necessary passage speed at the point of the arc and the hold together of the compressed gas flow.
The shell is formed in the simplest possible way if, as for example in Fib. 1 represents, one pole includes the other. But it could also move both poles or one of the two within a shell surrounding them together.
In order to achieve the effect just described, one contact is expediently formed so that it forms the envelope of the other. For example, in the case of sparks in the overvoltage protection, one contact can completely surround the inner contact as a grounded metal sleeve.
Its shape is expediently designed in such a way that, particularly at the point where the spark crosses (the actual spark gap), the compressed gas travels at high speeds. This is achieved when the contacts are limited by appropriate flow curves. The outlet opening for the compressed gas is expediently designed in the manner of a chimney.
If these chimneys are connected to systems with artificial or natural drafts, i.e. if the room in which the compressed gas escapes has negative pressure, it will be possible to support the compressed gas effect (increase in speed).
The effect of these devices is based essentially on the influence of the moving gas on the ions forming at the base of the arc, on the cooling influence of the expanding gas and on the mechanical force which moved it Puts gas on the arc itself. It is therefore advisable to do everything that can serve to increase these influences.
The following has to be taken into account: In order to tear the dense, rapidly moving ion chain, which is located at the base of the arc, both a fairly high pressure and the correct holding together of the compressed gas layer are required. The desired effect will most certainly be achieved if pressures above atmospheric are used. To increase this effect, it is also useful that the arc root points themselves are not permanently on the same side, but rather migrate to ever fresh spots of the ions.
Sufficient cooling of the base of the arch is also beneficial for this effect.
The cooling effect can be increased by exchanging air (expelling warm air and supplying cold air), also by adding evaporating liquids, for example carbon dioxide, water or the like.
It is advisable to set the amount of the vaporizing substances blown in according to the switching conditions. For the supply you can use special suction nozzles that are operated by the compressed gas, suck in and regulate the evaporating substances. The evaporation of the substances can take place through the arc chamber.
The cooling effect can also be supported by using the highest possible pressures and high speeds. The mechanical effect on the arc can also be increased through high pressures and high speeds. The arc can be drawn out and thus the ion density is reduced until the arc breaks. This can be promoted by diluting the arc as much as possible. The puncture-proof compressed gas layer then slides into the opening that has been created.
In one embodiment, during this process, the rapidly moving gas mechanically shifts the Uchtbow base point, which comes to cool places on the electrodes.
The electrons generated there, the speed of which depends on the voltage, are abducted by the gas flow if its speed is high enough. They cannot pass through the gas flow and move in a component, the position of which depends on the pressure gas velocity and the ion velocity. With the appropriate position of the component, the size and shape of the electrodes will determine whether the ions can still get from one electrode to another in sufficient numbers.
The base point, which moves under the influence of the compressed gas, cannot heat the cool metal at the cooled points of the electrodes until the cathode falls are reduced by heating the metal to such an extent that the formation of an electron or ion avalanche is possible.
This effect is supported if the electrodes move away from each other during the process and so even after a certain movement without electrical locking of the gap by the compressed gas, the gap could no longer be bridged by the ions. At the same time, this purely mechanical lengthening of the arc (switching movement) weakens the arc (reduces ion density).
At the beginning of the break, the bow is short and strong. It is at this time that the pressurized gas flows through the narrow slit. (Greatest force per unit of length of the arc.) This causes the arc to be elongated. (Strongest bubbles on the base of the arc.) Fig. 3 shows such an arrangement in which the arc is mechanically elongated to accelerate the extinction.
Poles 1 and 2 are opposite the compressed gas opening 9 so that the gas moves the electrodes held by the springs 23 in the rest position apart when the current passes through and a directed compressed gas blower is thereby removed. The size of the movement can be limited by the envelope 3. At the envelope 3 bushings 24 are seen before, through which the power supply lines 4 and 7 are passed. Fig. 4 shows a similar construction. 3. An auxiliary pole 25 is provided at pole 2, which was less than pole 2 against pole 1.
The auxiliary pole 2'5 is connected to the pole 2 via the resistor 96 and the coil 27. There is a rollover. so the current goes from pole 1 to the auxiliary pole 25 through the counter stand 26 to the coil 27 and from there; on pole \ _ 'and through line 7 to earth. Then the auxiliary pole 25 is attracted by the coil 27 and the arc passes directly between the poles 1 and 2. Due to the arrangement of the movable pole, the distance between the poles can be set to any small value without impairing the extinguishing effect. The switching resistors 26 can also be gas-cooled under pressure.
Another embodiment for moving electrodes is shown in FIG. 5 Darge provides. This is a movable intermediate piece 30 between pole 1 and pole \? rotatably mounted. If the compressed gas is introduced when the arc is crossed.
in this way, the piece 30 moves, for example, by means of vanes arranged in the pressurized gas flow, in a counterclockwise direction. Then; there is a rollover from the edge 31 against the edge 32. The distance between 31 and 32 becomes larger and larger as the piece 30 is rotated, until the arc is extinguished both by the change in the distance and by the blow. Instead of assigning the piece 30 between the poles 1 and 2, the movable piece 30 could also be formed with all poles 2 and the pole 1 facing the then movable pole 2 twice.
A spring or other device can also be provided which, after the blow has ended, returns the electric to the initial position shown.
Just as the electrodes are movable, movable parts can also be attached to the envelope of the spark gap .. which provide protection against dust and the like in the idle state and when the arc arises and the overpressure caused by this, the pressure is blown off despite the allow blown compressed gas. For example, nets can be used as the top closure, which may be in several layers on top of each other. But it can also be provided on the shell itself Ven tile, deflectable walls and the like, which allow upward or sideways blowing in the case of excess pressure in the shell.
In some cases it can also be useful to subdivide the spark gap. in a manner similar to that shown, for example, in FIG. 6 and FIG. 1 for concentric electrodes. The shape of the concentric parts can be chosen differently. Either simple rings or tubes, cones, spherical shells or similarly shaped bodies can be used.
All of these bodies have the advantage that the compressed gas blown in passes vertically or almost vertically to the arc between the individual spark gaps and thus has the greatest ignition and extinguishing effect. However, the end of the electrode could also be provided with insulating pieces to avoid rollover. The concentric tubes 19 can be insulated by interposed insulating pieces 21 and kept at the required spacing.
The rods end at the top in the insulating tubes _22y which prevent the arcing from flashing over from pole to pole. The compressed gas is supplied through the pipe 16 and flows into the space 23 and from here upwards between the pipes. The intermediate electrodes can be connected in any way. For example, they can be parallel or one behind the other. If you connect the electrodes in parallel, you could, for example, set the different spark gaps differently.
If the intermediate electrodes 19 are arranged one above the other, similarly to FIG. 8, and if the lowest spark gap is set, for example, to the smallest distance, a flashover in the lowest spark gap would affect the spark gap above it in such a way that also it is made to respond by the ion speed of its rollover path. The blowing initiated when the lowest spark gap is triggered would then first extinguish the lowest spark gap and then the spark gaps that are above and further set up.
If the pressure of the gas is initially selected to be high, so that back-ignition can no longer take place when it flows through the lowest spark gap, then the extinguishing can take place in a graduated manner. A similar effect could also be achieved with simple concentric arrangements in one plane. Then only the pressurized gas flow has to be passed first to the narrowest points and then to the other points. You can also set up the various spark gaps, both when they are on top of each other and when they are concentric next to each other, adjustable and so initiate the ignition at certain points first.
The invention can also be applied to high-performance fuses in such a way that the compressed gas enters the fuse when it melts, or that the fuse is permanently under compressed gas and the gas pressure is released when the melt strip burns through so that it extinguishes the arc. The melting strip can form part of the envelope or hold parts of the envelope together. The melting element can also, for example, keep a valve closed and release it when it melts. Finally, you can also use a rapidly evaporating substance to generate compressed gas.
This is particularly useful when the rapidly evaporating substance is evaporated by the fuse wire itself.
The most important area of application are switches, for which some Ausfüh approximately examples are provided in the following figures.
In FIG. 9, pole 1 is connected to pole 2 by switching piece 30. The pole 2 is supported in an insulating manner by the groove insulators 5, and the pole 1 by the insulating sheath 3. The compressed gas enters through the openings 9 as soon as the current is interrupted. The switching piece 30 sits on an insulating tube 35 and is held in the switch-on position by a cam 36. If there is to be an interruption, the cam moves counterclockwise. Then the spring 37 throws the switching piece 30 in the off position.
At the same time, the compressed gas valve is opened to blow the switch. Naturally, the arrangement can also be made such that poles 1 and 2 are opposite one another, as mentioned in FIG. In this case, an insulating piece 38 can be arranged at the upper end of the switching piece in such a way that the jet of compressed gas entering through the openings 9 not only brushes the contacts, but also the arc and tears the latter.
The insulating piece creates a kind of chamber for the arc. At its upper end, this chamber can have a special dust-tight seal by means of nets or the like; which are attached at an appropriate distance from the arc, received, and there can also be devices for blowing from any excess pressure that is created. The pressurized gas holder can be accommodated in a metallic housing, which at the same time forms the frame and the support for the structural parts. This part can be earthed together with the switchgear or separately.
In this case the poles must be insulated.
If only one pole is inserted into the switch and the switch is designed as a kind of switching chamber, the contact piece that connects to the second interruption point must be guided through the switching chamber in an isolated manner. Instead of inserting the pole isolated into the switching chamber or the like, a metal switching chamber could also be attached to insulating pieces, or a continuation of the metal switching chamber could be formed by an insulating piece. This arrangement expediently leads to the switching room itself being made of insulating material and to attach the poles and fittings to this insulating part.
The insulating part itself can consist of various substances. If you want to have parts that have special surface conductivity, you can use porcelain pieces or other ceramic material with or without grooves. These pieces can consist of one part or be composed of several parts. Instead of ceramic material one could also use pressed pieces or paper tubes or impregnated wood.
If attack by gas or humidity is to be feared, the paper tube can be designed as a reinforcement, the fitting parts attached to it and ceramic parts attached to it to protect against air, dust and gases.
In Fig. 11 such a device is shown. In this case, the hollow contact piece 30, which has the compressed gas outlet openings 9, is connected to the compressed gas control unit through the insulating tube 35. The switching movement takes place by axially displacing the switching piece 30 by means of a linkage - not shown in the drawing - which, for example, engages the lower end of the insulating tube 35. The compressed gas is controlled by the locking pieces 43, 42 attached to 35.
If it is switched off, 43 moves past the openings of valve 44 and lets pressurized gas flow in until part 42 is in the switched-off position in front of valve 44. When switched on, 42 moves upwards, the compressed gas flows out and the access to compressed gas is only blocked if the device is switched on continuously. If the compressed gas flow is to be completely blocked in the switched-on state, so that the compressed gas may fill the switching chamber, the contact 2 can be seated in contact 1 in a sealing manner.
This closure does not have to be perfect, but it can be designed so that some pressurized gas can always flow out. If the contact 2 is then seated below the contact 1, then there is negative pressure in the nozzle-shaped passage opening above the contact 21. In the pressurized gas: supply line, which is attached to 13, there can be a special valve; however, the incoming compressed gas could also be used to move the switch foot 30, that is to say to switch it off and on, as will be described below with reference to FIG.
If the compressed gas is used directly to move the switch foot 30, a lock or the like is expediently attached which, for example, only releases the valve 43 when the pressure of the compressed gas reaches the level required for reliable deletion . However, in other embodiments too; Switching off can be made dependent on the pressure, so that switching off and blowing can only begin at a certain pressure.
Since the activation of the spark gap and especially the extinguishing depends on the level of pressure for the blowing, it is advisable to ensure that the switch-off cannot be carried out if there is not enough pressure for blowing (or also for actuation) is available. For example, if a retaining device is attached to the switching piece, which wall or the like is released by a piston or a membrane, so can. the incoming pressurized gas only loosen this detention if there is enough pressure available.
If there is not enough pressure to delete it. For example, if it is below 5 atmospheres, the piston that operates the hold-down cannot be moved and the switch cannot turn off.
In order to be able to use a switch, however, if the pressure in a line is too low, it could be provided with two compressed gas lines, which are fed from various compressed gas containers. A switching valve could be attached in this way. that as soon as the pressure falls below a certain level, for example 5 atmospheres.
sinks, the switch switches over to the second pipe (this could, for example, be done simply by a rotary valve controlled by a pressure-dependent device), so that when actuated, the compressed gas pipe operates at a higher pressure.
Such an arrangement can be attached to any type of pressurized gas switch or pressurized gas spark gap.
The envelope can expediently be limited according to flow curves. The pressurized gas can exit either at individual points on the shell or in a ring shape.
If the power supply is not to lie within a shell because of the greater distance (creepage distance) then required, each interruption point can sit in a shell for itself. These individual interruption points can be normalized for certain voltages and currents and placed one after the other. connected in parallel.
If insulating sleeves are used, these insulating sleeves can bezw. the supports that carry them are also used to fasten the fittings and moving parts. If, for example, there are several interruption points that are at a certain distance from one another, a common cover can not be arranged, a partial cover can be attached to each contact, which fits so that the pressure gas jet is held together at the interruption point when blowing, and so on comes into its own.
The direction of the blowing will advantageously be such that the arc cannot migrate outwards, but is driven into the interruption slot and is extinguished there under the influence of the high passage speed.
In the case of movement over longer distances, the arrangement could be such that the shell parts initially fully surround the compressed gas jet and thus hold together in a concentrated manner and only move away from one another after the interruption has been initiated.
Such a switch is used with advantage in systems in which, by enlarging the system or for other reasons, the power to be switched off is greater than the capacity of the built-in switch. In order to make the system usable in these cases without complete conversion, such a switch can be connected to the existing switch either in series or in parallel. be switched.
If the existing switch (oil switch, air switch or the like) is sufficient for the switch-on power, it is advantageous to combine it with the pressurized gas switch so that the pressurized gas switch always takes over the switching off and the existing switch takes over the switching. In order to be able to carry out the conversion with simple means, the gas pressure switch, namely both the triggering of the mechanism and the actuation of the gas pressure valve, can be controlled by the same mechanism as the triggering device of the existing switch.
If both switches are not actuated at the same time, the difference in the switching movements of the two switches with respect to one another can be set somehow by the driver device, by the clutch or otherwise.
But you can also make both switches independent of each other and have each one controlled by its own relay. If the switches are so completely separate, the gas pressure switch can simply be installed in place of an isolating switch and replace it. But you could also completely assemble a pressurized gas switch and liquid switch, in such a way that a pressurized gas switch is built into a liquid switch that is changed accordingly (changing the cover and liquid level).
If a pressurized gas switch is added to an oil switch, then the interruption path in the oil switch can also be changed; it can then be kept shorter. It is, however, advantageous to arrange the arrangement in such a way that the oil switch can only be closed after the gas pressure switch has been closed.
If it is not an oil switch, but other switches with high amperage with tear-off contacts and blow coils, then special gas switches can be added to these to support the switching process. The gas pressure switches can either be specially seated or built into the switches. The blowing of the compressed gas switch can be set up so that the compressed gas is also used for blowing; the main contacts are used.
The blowing can take place when switching off, as well as when switching on. An exemplary embodiment is shown in FIG.
The gas switch (1, 2) is connected in parallel with an oil switch (46, 47). Both switches are actuated by pressurized gas that is taken from a storage container 59. To turn it off, the actuating switch 56 is moved to the right. The magnet 53 receives from an auxiliary power source (--I- -); current and opens the valve 51. Through the pipe 48 pressurized gas flows both into the space 9 between the contacts 1, 2 and via the piston 45, which opens an insulating rod 45a is attached.
The piston and rod are moved downwards, thereby initially separating the oil switch contacts 46, 47. After the rod 45a has moved so far, it takes by means of the claws 55 firmly connected to it and the thickening 5 4 -in the contact 2 only with this. The actual interruption now takes place between poles 1 and 2, with the extinguishing gas from 9 sweeping between them. To switch on, the valve 50 is opened via the magnet 52. Gas flows through 49 under piston 45.
The oil switch contacts are closed and only after they have come into engagement, the rod 45a pushes the movable contact 2 into the mating contact 1. If the pressure in the container 59 falls below a certain value, the spring 57 closes the contact 58. The circuit indicated at 64 then starts a compressor which charges the container 59 again via the check valve 63.
The insulating pieces 60, @ 61, 62 serve to electrically separate the contacts 1, 2 and the pipeline 48 from one another. 13 shows a pressurized gas switch which is also actuated by pressurized gas and which is mechanically coupled to a conventional air isolating switch 65, 66 with which it is electrically connected in series. The supply pipes 67, 74 for the gas are made of insulating material (glass, hard paper), so that it is not necessary to isolate the switch contacts from the gas inlet.
At 68, the gas passes through the piston to shut off. 45 and moves the contact 2, which slides through the contact piece 7 5. The disconnector traverse 76 is only moved when the upper end of the slot 70 on the pin 69 meets. When switching on, the horizontal piece 72 of this slot takes the isolating switch with it immediately, so that it is inserted in front of the switch 1, 2. The pin 73 pushes the part with this slot aside in such a way that it is uncoupled from the pin 69.
Under certain circumstances, you can get by with a smaller switching path. Since it can be advantageous to use the short switching path to quickly bring about a separation under pressurized gas. However, this would lead to backfiring after the compressed gas has been blown off. To avoid this, one will combine before geous with a short switching path of the pressure gas switch this with a disconnect switch, which ensures the contact distance in addition to the interruption of the pressure gas switch. This circuit breaker can be operated by the same mechanism as the pressurized gas switch, so that it is easy to bring the two movements into the desired temporal relationship.
It can be ensured, for example, that the gas pressure switch disconnects the power and the isolating switch disconnects the voltage completely or almost completely. The linkage then only needs to have a certain amount of backlash, so that the disconnector is only taken along after the compressed gas switch has switched.
In order to prevent the disconnector from being switched off too early, a lock for the disconnector can be installed, which is only opened by the pressurized gas switch.
In order to strengthen the effect when the compressed gas is blown into the arc, easily evaporating substances can be added which generate high pressure at the moment of evaporation and thereby both. Accelerate the movement of the pressurized gas and improve the layer of high pressure between the electrodes, which makes flashback difficult. If it is a matter of switching off normal currents, it will be enough to set small amounts of vaporizing substance to generate sufficient pressure and speed in the arc. If, on the other hand, a short circuit (greatest current strength) is switched off, large amounts of evaporating substance must be added.
Because when switching off a short circuit, higher pressure is required to overcome the counterpressure of the arc and thus to remove the ions and metal gases from the area of the arc. The amount of the evaporating substance can be controlled by the trigger relay or a special relay.
A particularly simple solution to the task of generating the pressurized gas only at the moment of switching off is obtained by arranging small masses of an explosive body inside the switch, which are vaporized by the arc. Such embodiments are shown in FIGS. 14 and 15. In Fig. 14 explosive balls 8 7 are arranged in the supply tube 84 "which are automatically fed to this at the lowest level of the contact 2 and remain here until the next switch-off.
In rest. 15, an explosive liquid 87 is contained in the tube 67 through which the pressurized gas flow enters, which is carried away by the entering pressurized gas flow and increases the pressure when it evaporates in the arc.
