Description
Tooling for depth measurement. The present invention relates to a tool for measuring depths. This tool comprises a graduated ruler running smoothly in a sliding block and a support ruler pierced with holes through each of which the graduated ruler can be passed, the block remaining resting on the upper face of the ruler support.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 is a plan view of the support rule and FIG. 2 a plan view (the graduated ruler and slide block. Figures 3 and 4 illustrate how to use the tools.
The rule a, with a square section, has five equidistant holes b; as to the graduated rule c. it can slide in a rec tangular slide made in the block d provided with a vernier along one of the edges of the slide, which opens, on the other hand, on one of the faces (read block.
To measure depths, it is possible, depending on the case, to use both the rules a and c or only the latter. Fig. 3 relates to the first case. It is a question of me surer various dimensions located at the levels f. For this purpose, the support rule a is mounted cantilever on the rim e and the rule c is engaged in one or the other of the holes of the, rule a, the block d remaining pressed on the upper face of the rule a. The second case is shown in fig. 4; it is a question of taking measurements at the bottom of an orifice h too narrow for one to be able to engage the rule a; we then only use rule c and its block.
This tool has the great advantage of being very inexpensive and of allowing, in certain cases, such as that illustrated in FIG. 4, for example, or also in the case of a rapid measurement, to use the rule c and its block alone.
