Alumi- nium-Ma.gnesium-Manganlegierung oder Alu minium - Magnesium - IKirkellegierung, be stehen.
Process for the production of aluminum plating on iron or steel sheets BEZW. tapes. To connect iron or steel sheets respectively. tapes with aluminum for producing an aluminum cladding, various methods have heretofore been used and proposed. Both metals, or at least one of them, were heated to at least <B> 300 ', </B> but mostly even higher, namely up to the welding temperature of the aluminum (550 to <B> 600') </B> before being rolled together.
In another process, a binder in liquid form (solder) was used, or the iron sheets were rubbed off with aluminum powder for this purpose before joining with the aluminum sheet. For a multiple planing, the proposal has also been made to apply the metal to be arranged between the two other metals in the liquid state before rolling.
All of these methods have significant disadvantages; Above all, with the now mostly common heating, up to <B> 300 '</B> or an even higher temperature, there is always the risk of a certain scale formation, and it is known that perfect leveling is not possible, if there are non-metallic foreign bodies between the sheets. In addition, the strips to be plated must be placed in a crucible, placed in the furnace and their temperature monitored, etc., which is expensive, time-consuming and requires skilled personnel.
According to the invention, iron or steel sheets are BEZW. -strips clad with aluminum in that sheets or strips made of these metals with a metallically clean surface are placed on top of one another and passed through a cold rolling mill without prior heat treatment.
. The attached drawing is intended to show, on a greatly enlarged scale, a picture before the connection process, purely schematically and in perspective.
A sheet metal plate, particularly advantageously an iron or steel strip 1 of greater length, for example the usual length of 400 meters, is artificially roughened on one side, for example by means of a sandblasting blower, whereby the surface used for the connection is simultaneously metallic clean is made. The other metal band, an aluminum band 2, is expediently done in the same way, that is to say.
this on page 2a also artificially #., --eraulit. The two metal straps are made of about. Sand still adhering is cleaned and then sent with the two roughened sides lying on top of one another through rollers 3, 4 of a cold rolling mill.
As a result of the roughening, the mutually facing sides of the metal strips have a myriad of small depressions and elevations, which enter into one another under the pressure of the rollers and anchor one another.
During the rolling process, a temperature of 100 ", as created by the rolling pressure, is not exceeded.
so that the plated band can be grasped and operated with leather gloves at any time. In this way, without the disadvantages of the previous heat treatment of the metal strips, an extremely intimate connection of the same to form a bimetal strip 5 is achieved. A major advantage of this process is that, for example, when connecting a highly flexible steel band with an aluminum band, the former does not, as before,
part of its spring force is removed by heat treatment, this spring force is much more retained in full. This method is of course not limited to the connection of just two metal handles to form a bimetal strip, but can also be used to heat plated metal strips which are composed of several metal layers.
The invention is of course not limited to a method in which the sheet or strip used for leveling consists of pure aluminum, but can also be used analogously to produce the aluminum cladding, which is made of an aluminum alloy, for example aluminum. niuni magnesium copper alloy,
Aluminum-magnesium-manganese alloy or aluminum-magnesium-I-circle alloy exist.
