Fuse element with fuse and thermal release. The invention relates to such a fuse element which, in addition to a replaceable fuse, also contains an exchangeable heat release which is dependent on the heating state of the current circuit to be protected and which monitors the passage of current through the fuse.
The essence of the invention consists primarily in the fact that the fuse is mechanically coupled to the axially behind it arranged heat release so that the trigger can be inserted into the element and removed again with the help of the fuse. The heat release can be provided at the same time with the mating contact and the fitting ring for the foot contact of the fuse, so that on the one hand, when a fuse is inserted without a heat release, the former does not receive any electrically conductive connection at its foot contact, while at the same time higher melting current than prescribed is prevented.
Finally, the Wärmeaus solver in the part receiving it, for example the central tube of a heating coil, BEZW after release temperature. The current strength must be so distinctive that a release with a higher melting temperature than permitted for the circuit to be protected cannot be used.
An embodiment of the subject invention is shown in the drawing. 1 and 2 show two axial sections through the securing element, a switching pin of the thermal release being in the rest position in FIG. 1 and in the switching position in FIG. 2; Fig. 3 shows a cross-section along line 3-3 of Fig. 1; Fig. 4 and 5 each show a Wärmeaus solver of slightly different dimensions than in Figs. 1-3 respectively in side view. in the axial section.
1 is the base of the fuse element. In a central cavity 70 of the base 1, a heating coil 17 and a ring 71 of insulating material, advantageously ceramic shear mass, are arranged one above the other. As usual, the heating coil 17 is wound around a metal tube 2, which is used to hold the heat release. The winding of the coil 17 is all its inner end with the metal tube 22 and at the outer end with a lateral connection terminal 72 conductively connected.
It is designed in such a way that it is heated as closely as possible to the circuit to be protected. The nature and purpose of the insulating ring 71 are explained in more detail below. Above the insulating ring 71, the Ge threaded ring 73 is attached in an extension of the cavity 70, which is used to unscrew the head 9 of the element provided with a threaded tube 8 and is conductively connected to a second lateral connecting member 74.
The heating coil 17 and the insulating ring 71 have a slightly larger outer diameter than the Gess indering 73, so that they are protected against unauthorized removal and replacement by the latter.
The space remaining between the insulating ring 71 and the head 9 of the element is used to accommodate a fuse 10, for example a diazed patrorie. This is in conductive connection with all of its head contact with the threaded tube 8, while at the foot it is connected to the central tube 22 of the heating coil 17 by the heat release to be described now.
The heat release has hurried metal sleeve 30, which sits in the central tube 22 of the heating coil and has just enough play in it that it can be easily pushed in and out. The sleeve 30 has a metallic flange 76 which rests on the upper flange of the central tube 22 of the heating coil 17 and thereby guarantees good contact with this tube. In the sleeve 30, a switching pin 31 is displaceable, which is under the action of a spring 32 pressing it downward, but is usually soldered in its upper end position shown in FIG.
In order to prevent the pin 31 from being completely pushed out of the sleeve 30, the lower edge of the latter is bent inward on the one hand, and the switching pin 31 on the other hand has a collar 76 at its upper end. This collar also contains eire circumferential groove or groove 77 for receiving the solder, whereby it is protected against loss.
The part 7 8 of the guide sleeve 30 protruding upward from the heating coil 17 is formed into an inwardly resilient clamping sleeve by arranging several longitudinal slots, the clear width of which corresponds to the diameter of the dowel pin 10 a of the fusible plug 10. The on-site fuse 10 engages with its dowel pin 10a irr the clamping sleeve 78, which is stuck on the dowel pin due to the suspension of its wall. As a result, the fuse and the thermal release are coupled to one another in such a way that when the fuse is removed, the release is pulled out of the element at the same time.
The clamping sleeve 78 simultaneously causes the electrical connection of the fuse with the heat release, so that a special contact screw is unnecessary. Depending on the desired Abschinelzstrom strength of the fuse tion 10, the clamping sleeve 78 receives another clear width, namely it corresponds in Fig. 1 to 3 to the dowel pin of a cartridge of 6 Anip. Melting current strength,
while the clamping sleeve in the triggers according to FIGS. 4 and 5 for receiving the dowel pin of a cartridge full 10 respectively. 25 Anip, is set up.
Since in the latter two cases the outer end 78 of the guide sleeve 30, as a clamping sleeve and fitting ring, has a larger diameter than the part seated in the central tube of the heating coil, all shoulder 75a rushed to the guide sleeve is created, which can serve as a stop and contact surface , As a result of which the special flange 75 is dispensable in the From solvers according to FIGS. 4 and 5. Of course, the graduation is not limited to 6, 10 and 25 amps, in fact all of the gradations that come up are possible.
The part of the guide sleeve 30 containing the switching pin 31 and the spring 32 is open towards the part 78 forming the clamping sleeve, and the loading spring 32 of the switching pin 31 is tensioned by the latter when the melting plug 10 is inserted. The switching pin 31 is used to produce a short circuit between the two poles of the circuit to be protected and thereby bring the fuse 10 to switch off. For this purpose, the switching pin 31 interacts after its downward displacement following the soldering of the soldering point with a contact 33 made of copper and carbon which is provided at the bottom in the base 1 of the element and is conductively connected to a third terminal 34.
The element is turned on with the two Klem men 74, 72 in one of the two conductors of the circuit to be protected. The current flows .von the terminal 74 through the fuse 10, the clamping sleeve 78, the guide sleeve 30 and the heating coil 17 to the terminal 72. The third terminal 34 is connected to the second conductor of the circuit to be protected. When the circuit to be protected is under normal load, the switching pin 31 is in its upper end position shown in FIG. 1, so that there is no conductive connection between it and the contact 33.
If an inadmissible heating occurs as a result of overloading the circuit, the switching pin 31 is unsoldered by the heating coil 17, which warms up in accordance with the circuit, whereupon the spring 32 moves the pin 31 downwards against the contact 33. As a result, a short circuit between the two poles of the circuit is produced behind the fuse 10, which leads to the shutdown of the endangered circuit by the fuse 10. In order to repair the protective device again, the head 9 of the element is unscrewed, whereupon the fuse 10 can be removed together with the heat release by a simple handle.
If this happens, the heat release is removed from the fuse and the switch pin 31 is moved back into its starting position; in which it is re-soldered by the cooling of the solder metal. Then the trigger is placed on a new fuse and inserted into the element together with it and screwed on: the head 9 is secured. The element is then ready for operation again.
In addition to inadmissible heating, the protective device can of course also respond to sudden strong overloads without the heat release being activated. In this case, the shutdown happens directly through the fuse 10, and then only this needs to be replaced. The state of the fuse 10 can, as usual, be determined by an identification plate visible in the viewing hole 41 of the element head 9, while the state of the heat release after it has been removed from the element together with the fuse can be recognized by the position of the switching pin 31.
If this does not protrude from the sleeve 30, then. only spoke to the fuse.
In order to prevent that instead of the release prescribed for the circuit, a heat release for a higher release temperature or. Current strength is used, the guide tube 30 of the switching pin 31 and with this of course also the central tube 22 of the heating coil 17 are appropriately stepped in diameter, in such a way that a large diameter (Fig. 5), a high and a small diameter (Fig. 1-4) corresponds to a low trigger temperature. A release with a lower release temperature can therefore be set in the element, but never a release with a higher temperature.
In order to prevent furthermore that a thermal release is used in the element, which has the prescribed release temperature but a fitting ring for a fuse with a higher melting current than prescribed for the circuit to be protected, the aforementioned insulating ring 71 is provided.
In FIGS. 1-3, this has a flange 75 that corresponds to the outside diameter of the flange 75 provided on the heat release and, in conjunction with a release according to FIG. 4 or h, one that corresponds to the outside diameter of the clamping sleeve 78 or. the clear width corresponding to the shoulder 75a, so that in place of the prescribed trigger a trigger with a narrower clamping sleeve, but never a trigger with a further clamping sleeve, can be used.
The insulating ring 71 also serves to prevent the creation of a closed circuit in the absence of a thermal release. In addition, the ring has a greater height than the length of the dowel pin 10a of the fusible link 10, so that its foot contact cannot directly touch the central tube 22 of the heating coil 17. When a fusible link is inserted without a heat release, there is no conductive connection between the fuse 10 and the heating coil 17.
Of course, many changes to the example shown and other designs are possible. For example, the heat release could be screwed into the central tube 22 of the heating coil 17, in which case, of course, the coupling between the release and fuse must be designed so that the heat release can be turned through the fuse and thus screwed in and out.
Instead of a metal alloy, another suitable substance, for example colophony, cellulose, ba kelite or the like, could also be used for soldering the switch pin 31 in the sleeve 30, especially at low melting temperatures. Instead of the drawn. Laterally arranged terminals could, as is customary with fuse elements, rear terminals for connecting the element to the circuit to be protected.
Furthermore, the unmistakability of the heat trigger could BEZW after the release temperature. Current strength instead of by graduating the diameter of the sleeve 30 containing the retaining pin also by graduating the length of this sleeve or because the heat release is provided with lateral, in their shape or size graded cams that are in corresponding recesses on the inner wall of the insulating ring 71 intervene.
Instead of the WiLrmeaUSlüser producing a short circuit between the poles of the consumer when it is triggered, i.e. closing an auxiliary circuit, the device could also be such that the thermal release opens an auxiliary circuit when it is triggered, for example by having one that does not contain the fuse Usually closed short-circuit or shunt circuit opens and thus the current flowing through the fuse is amplified so that the latter is switched off.
