Description

Emergency brake for motor vehicles. The usual brakes of motor vehicles acting on the wheels of the vehicle have the often dangerous drawback of causing skidding, depriving the driver of control of his direction, when the ground is wet and the rapid stopping of the vehicle. vehicle is required. The object of the present invention is to prevent skidding and its object is an emergency brake for motor vehicles, acting directly on the ground, an emergency brake consisting of two levers pivoting on each side of the vehicle frame and of which the end rubs on the ground when actuated by a suitable control.

The appended drawing gives, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention; Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof; Fig. 2 is a plan view.

This emergency brake for motor vehicles is constituted by two levers 1 ft voting in 2 on the side, side members 3 of the vehicle frame. These levers are interconnected by a coupling bar 4 which is connected, via a rod 5, at the end. 6 with a hand lever 7, pi voting on the side of the frame 3.

The ends 8 of the levers 1 intended to rub on the ground, when suitably acted on the hand lever 7, are cut so as to present a ridge allowing their penetration into the ground.

Let us assume that a motor vehicle equipped with a similar emergency brake travels at a rapid pace on slippery ground which is then slippery with humility and that the driver is suddenly called upon to stop or slow down. By applying its usual brakes, the vehicle will skid, but it will then be able to take over the control of its direction while causing an increase in braking by acting on the hand lever 7, forcing the ends 8 of the levers 1 to penetrate the ground . The power of this emergency braking can be proportioned to the need of the circumstances by a more or less pronounced action on the hand lever 7. The penetration of the ends 8 in the ground will prevent any skidding and will guide the movement of the vehicle during its stop. in the normal direction of its movement.
