EMI0001.0001
Gips <SEP> 4,0 <SEP> Gewichtsteile
<tb> rein <SEP> zerkleinertes <SEP> Zinkweiss <SEP> 2,0 <SEP> "
<tb> Fein <SEP> zerkleinerte
<tb> Schlemmkreide <SEP> 2,0 <SEP> "
<tb> Leim <SEP> (trockener) <SEP> 1,5 <SEP>
<tb> Gutes <SEP> mineralisches
Process for the production of original forms for letterpress printing and the original form produced by this process. The present invention comprises a process for the production of master forms for letterpress printing, from which forms can be obtained by stereotypical casting or Galvanostegie high pressure and a master form produced by this method.
The method is characterized in that a mass is prepared by mixing plaster of paris, at least one other neutral mineral substance, glue and a mineral oil with water, then applying the mass obtained in this way to a flat surface and finally by lifting out parts of the mass the desired archetype wins.
The original form consists of a base and a mass applied to the latter, which mass is formed by a mixture of plaster of paris, at least one other neutral mineral substance, glue and a mineral oil.
Here is one embodiment of the process.
In this embodiment, the mass has the following composition:
EMI0001.0001
Gypsum <SEP> 4.0 <SEP> parts by weight
<tb> pure <SEP> crushed <SEP> zinc white <SEP> 2.0 <SEP> "
<tb> Finely <SEP> crushed
<tb> Gourmet chalk <SEP> 2.0 <SEP> "
<tb> glue <SEP> (dry) <SEP> 1,5 <SEP>
<tb> good <SEP> mineral
<tb> Machine lubricating oil <SEP> 2.0 <SEP> "where. the zinc white and the glutinous chalk represent the other neutral minerals mentioned in the introduction.
The glue is prepared for itself with the same amount of water by weight, namely one takes 3 parts by weight of glue set (of which 1.5 parts by weight are dry glue substance) on the other components indicated, d. H. 4 parts by weight of plaster of paris, 2 parts by weight of zinc white, 2 parts by weight of chalk. All of these substances (including the glue) are mixed with 17 parts by weight of water to form a thin, even paste. After this has happened, the pulp is intimately mixed with two parts by weight of good mineral machine lubricating oil.
The pulp is then applied in a thin, even layer to the base, which consists, for example, of dark-colored cardboard, which is best done by machine (similar to the layer of barley glue on art paper) by rolling. It is advisable to finely grind the prepared paste on a paint mill or roller mill before applying it.
The documents covered with the layer of mass can be stored indefinitely; special care is not required to maintain their processing ability (e.g. with regard to maintaining a certain degree of moisture).
The blank original form prepared in this way can be worked out in a simple and artistically grateful manner by a drawing artist himself using a simple engraving or scraping technique, by using a needle or a pencil from the layer of the material the scraping knife lifted out to the surface of the pad who the; From the embodiment processed in this way, the letterpress forms required for letterpress printing are then obtained using stereotypical flat or curved stereotype plates or by electroplating. Thanks to its composition, the mass is somewhat elastic.
First of all, this has the advantage that the line or cut edges do not splinter because these edges are completely smooth; so extremely delicate and fine strokes can be produced. Furthermore, lines can be placed very close to one another, run into one another and cross one another without having to fear that narrow or island-like mass particles will pop out.
Because of this elasticity of the mass, it is possible to dissolve the mass layer into a system of individual mass points (cones, dots) by means of a grid that goes all the way to the surface of the base and thereby to give the final impression a gridded ground if desired. If the wet layer is to be dissolved by rasterization, this can be done after it has dried well by rolling over it with an appropriately patterned roller, by pressing in a correspondingly patterned press plate or by a type of milling, in which the substrate with a layer of mass with one of the layers lying close together Circle knives existing roller is crossed over.
If the mentioned embodiment is to be used for the production of high-pressure forms by Galvanostegie, it is made by dipping in or by pouring a wax-like mass (wax, stearin, paraffin) with a thin, but against the effect of the galvanic bath provided a slitting coating. The original form prepared in this way is made conductive by applying graphite powder and can now withstand very long or repeated lingering in the bath.
The deposited copper skin is cast behind on the back (i.e. the side opposite the relief-like surface in the bath), so that here, too, the surface of the base results in the final printing surface.
The layer can be applied so densely on the substrate that the depth of the high pressure farm, that is, the distance between the printing surface and the back floor area, is sufficiently large under all circumstances; on the other hand, it is advantageous for the artistic elaboration of the original form if the layer is quite thin, so that the drawing artist does not need to dig deep as far as lines are concerned, but can proceed more like writing or drawing.
Then -but the letterpress form produced is not deep enough when it comes to larger white areas; there is a risk of the bottom of the letterpress form touching the inking roller. Now you can subsequently apply mass to the imaginary surface parts of an archetype, which binds with the originally applied, in order to deepen the high-pressure forms in the relevant places according to the increase in the archetype. Such subsequent application can be done with a brush, pen or writing tube (in a tip made of drawn glass tubes).
The composition of the applied mass can be different from that indicated; z. For example, the other neutral mineral substances can only consist of glutinous chalk or only zinc white.
