Description

1 Field of the Invention:
[0001] The present invention relates to novel cosmetic compositions for topical application, for the photoprotection of the skin and/or the hair against ultraviolet radiation (such compositions hereinafter simply designated "sunscreen," "sunscreen/cosmetic" or "photoprotective/sunscreen" compositions), and to the use of same for the cosmetic applications indicated above. Description of the Related Art:
[0002] Sunscreen preparations, including cosmetics that contain sunscreens, are used to protect human skin and other tissue from the damaging effects of ultraviolet (UV) rays. Among the more effective and successful sunscreen products are those that utilize Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) and Zinc Oxide (ZnO). Others use organic UV absorbers. Some of the more effective of these formulations are visible in use, while others blend with the skin or otherwise become transparent.
[0003] The ultraviolet radiation (UVR) spectrum has two distinct regions that are of concern for human health: UVB (290-320nm) and UVA (320-400nm). Both UVA and UVB radiation exposure, from the sun or artificial sources are hazardous. UVB causes sunburn and skin cancer in humans. UVA causes skin damage, reduces skin elasticity and induces wrinkles and also contributes to sunburn and cancer. Also, UVA radiation is a year-round phenomenon. UVA radiation passes through window glass and penetrates deeper into the skin than UVB radiation, while UVB radiation is blocked by window glass. High intensities of UVB light are hazardous to the eyes, and exposure can cause welder's flash (photokeratitis or arc eye) and may lead to cataracts, pterygium, and Pinguecula formation. A UV attenuating formulation preferably includes both a UVA and a UVB blocking constituents ("broad spectrum" coverage) to prevent most of the UV radiation within the range of about 290-400 nm from reaching human skin, hair or other organs and tissues. There is also so called UVC radiation within 100-290 nm wavelength range, the strongest and potentially most harmful form. While UVC produced by the sun is almost entirely absorbed by the earth's ozone layer and is therefore not usually considered a health concern below the ozone layer, it should be noted that the UVC radiation can be found in mercury arc lamps, germicidal lamps and other sources.
[0004] Currently both organic and inorganic sunscreens are commercially available. To satisfy the "broad spectrum" attenuation criteria in many formulations it is common practice to utilize two or more active ingredients with complimentary absorbance spectra since typical organic or inorganic sunscreens block only a portion of the total UVR spectra. When organic sunscreen preparations are used, issues of photo-induced Date Re^ue/Date Received 2023-10-262 and non-photo induced toxicity and allergy have been observed due to long-term use of organic sunscreens and are becoming increasingly of concern.
[0005] By looking at prior art, multiple advancements have been seen in this regard. For instance, a US patent 5,658,555A discusses topically applicable sunscreen/cosmetic compositions well suited for enhanced photoprotection of human skin and/or hair against the damaging effects of UV-A and UV-B irradiation, particularly solar radiation, comprise a photoprotecting synergistically effective amount of (i) 2,4,6-tris[p-((2'- ethylhexyl)oxycarbonyl)anilino]-1,3,5-triazine and benzene-1,4-di(3-methylidene-10- camphorsulfonic)acid, optionally either partially or totally neutralized, together with photoprotecting synergistically effective amounts of (ii) particulates of at least one inorganic nanopigment which comprises a metal oxide, in a cosmetically acceptable vehicle, diluent or carrier therefor.
[0006] A WO patent 2,007,027656Al relates to Nanodiamond uv protectant formulations. The cosmetic or sunscreen preparation provides transmission attenuation of ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B and ultraviolet C light when applied to human tissue to reduce exposure comprises a dispersion of an effective amount of diamond nanoparticle in a physiologically compatible medium, where the diamond nanoparticles have a size greater than about 60 nm.
[0007] A WO patent l,996,041614Al relates to Sunscreen compositions. This invention relates to novel sunscreen compositions containing inorganic sunscreen agents, anionic emulsifiers and an oil component which permit the use of low amounts of inorganic sunscreen agents in the compositions while achieving high sun protection factors or the use of high amounts of inorganic sunscreens for very high sun protection factors without whiteness.
[0008] A Composite UV sunblock composition bearing US patent 5,733,531A encompasses topical sunblock formulae for shielding skin from ultraviolet radiation, and a composite sunblocking component thereof. The sunblocking component of the formula includes an effective amount of a plurality of particles having diameters in the range of about 0.01-100 microns, each particle including a matrix and a UV-attenuating compound incorporated into the matrix. The composite sunblocking component may include a particle that is colored or transparent, depending upon the matrix, UVattenuating compound and the particle size. The sunblocking component is dispersible in water and thus in water-based dermatological carriers. The formula includes these particles dispersed within a dermatologically acceptable liquid carrier in at least an amount sufficient to shield substantially all of the skin over which the formula is applied from the hazardous effects of ultraviolet radiation. Date Re^ue/Date Received 2023-10-263
[0009] There are multiple inventions that have been seen in prior art however Regardless of the approach, these methods always require innovation in their field to provide the best skin care and protection formula. The current methodology provides a new method for an enhanced methodology wherein a new approach of photoprotective composition is effective at blocking UV rays and is “skin-friendly” is introduced. This approach includes an antibacterial formulation that can reverse photoaging and has superior UV-protection properties. The Lipid nanoparticles provide hydration, enhanced viscosity and skin occlusion. The benefits from this are governed by the type of lipid nanoparticles, composition, and the bioactive molecules to be loaded. The specific type of lipid nanoparticles used in _ are solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs). SLNs can be used to prevent sunscreen agents from degrading from the UV radiation or other environmental factors. By encapsulating the agents within the SLNs, it can protect these agents from degradation, leading to improved stability and prolonged effectiveness.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0023] Detailed descriptions of the preferred embodiment are provided herein. It is to be understood, however, that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but rather as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed system, structure or manner.
[0024] The terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting of the invention. As used herein, the term "and/or" includes any and all combinations of one or more of the associated listed items. As used herein, the singular forms "a," "an," and "the" are intended to include the plural forms as well as the singular forms, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. It will be further understood that the terms "comprises" and/or "comprising," when used in this specification, specify the presence of stated features, steps, operations, elements, and/or components, but do not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, steps, operations, elements, components, and/or groups thereof.
[0025] Although a tan has long been considered a status symbol indicative of good health and the ability to secure sufficient leisure time to enjoy outdoor activities such as swimming, tennis, golf, skiing and the like, it has become very evident that excessive exposure of the human skin to sunlight is harmful. It is well documented that human skin is sensitive to sunlight and artificial light containing radiation of wavelengths between about 290 nanometers (nm) and 400 nm. Ultraviolet radiation of wavelengths between about 290 nm and 320 nm (UV-B region) has been known to rapidly produce damaging effects on the skin including reddening or erythema, edema, blistering or other skin eruptions in more severe cases. Prolonged or chronic exposure to radiation in this wavelength range has been associated with serious skin conditions such as actinic keratoses and carcinomas. In recent years, concern has also been expressed regarding ultraviolet radiation of wavelengths above 320 n (UV-A region) and the adverse effects of such radiation on human skin. The Date Re^ue/Date Received 2023-10-266 radiation between 320 and 400 nm also contributes to the premature aging of the skin. In addition, recent studies indicate that chronic sun exposure limits the immunoresponse of the skin. There is also evidence that a tan will offer some protection against burning but is quite ineffectual against other types of solar damage.
[0026] Conventional sunscreens to this day serves the purpose of blocking out UV rays. Still, they had substantial adverse effects, including environmental damage and the inclusion of harmful chemicals in the sunscreen that can be absorbed into the skin's epidermis and cause dangerous side effects.
[0027] The present invention is directed to an improved system and procedure for a stabilized cosmetic dermatological Nano-enhanced Photoprotective Composition for Superior UV Protection.
[0028] The present invention discloses a new method for focusing on improved photoprotective composition that is effective at blocking UV rays and is “skin-friendly”. It includes an antibacterial formulation that can reverse photoaging and has superior UV-protection properties. Lipid nanoparticles provide hydration, enhanced viscosity and skin occlusion. The benefits from this are governed by the type of lipid nanoparticles, composition, and the bioactive molecules to be loaded. The specific type of lipid nanoparticles used in _ are solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs). SLNs can be used to prevent sunscreen agents from degrading from UV radiation or other environmental factors. By encapsulating the agents within the SLNs, it can protect these agents from degradation, leading to improved stability and prolonged effectiveness. These lipid nanoparticles incorporate the sunscreen agents that have poor solubility in water or oil into the SLNs and enhance their solubility and dispersion. SLNs also deliver sunscreen agents to specific sites, such as the epidermis or the dermis. This targeted delivery enhances the absorption of the sunscreen agents. In addition, SLNs are designed to release the encapsulated sunscreen agents in a controlled manner. This can ensure longlasting protection against UV-radiation. These organic nanoparticles inside the sunscreen are safer to use for the skin and eco-friendly compared to titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. SLNs present occlusive properties from the lipid film that forms on the skin, which helps to prevent water evaporation and promote hydration.
[0029] By looking at Figure 1 depicts an example image of an SLN. SLNs can be produced without the use of organic solvents and have high physical stability. Overall, the use of SLNs as carriers enhance the photo-protective efficacy of sunscreen formulation, providing superior UV protection and minimizing skin damage. In addition to the use of SLNs, the composition includes Curcumin nanoparticles. Curcumin is a natural compound that is known to have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anticancer effects. It can help protect the skin against the harmful effects of UV-A Date Re^ue/Date Received 2023-10-267 and UV-B rays. It acts as an antioxidant that reduces the amount of ROS produced, preventing cellular damage. They are used to improve the stability of the compound, protecting it from degradation by oxidation, light or heat leading to longer shelflife. It also enhances aqueous solubility due to the synergistic effects with other photoprotective compositions or sunscreen agents, leading to improved bioavailability, making curcumin more accessible for skin absorption and utilization.
[0030] Thus the present invention proposes a novel utilization of a myriad of preexisting technology to achieve a means to create synchrony of said activities. No prior invention serves the explicit purpose of creating a such combination for inner health and outer beauty.
[0031] While a specific embodiment has been shown and described, many variations are possible. With time, additional features may be employed. The particular shape or configuration of the platform or the interior configuration may be changed to suit the system or equipment with which it is used.
[0032] Having described the invention in detail, those skilled in the art will appreciate that modifications may be made to the invention without departing from its spirit. Therefore, it is not intended that the scope of the invention be limited to the specific embodiment illustrated and described. Rather, it is intended that the scope of this invention be determined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
[0033] The Abstract of the Disclosure is provided to allow the reader to quickly ascertain the nature of the technical disclosure. It is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims. In addition, in the foregoing Detailed Description, it can be seen that various features are grouped together in various embodiments for the purpose of streamlining the disclosure.
