Abstract

La présente invention concerne une thérapie de photobiomodulation (PBMT) pouvant être appliquée à l'il pour traiter la névrite optique, un symptôme de la sclérose en plaques (MS). La lumière de PBMT peut être dirigée dans l'il, indépendamment de la position de l'il, par un dispositif qui comprend un réseau de dispositifs de distribution de lumière et une lentille de dissipateur thermique. Le dispositif peut être placé à proximité de l'il pour diriger la lumière dans l'il. La lumière peut présenter une ou plusieurs longueurs d'onde de 400 à 1 100 nm et peut être appliquée selon au moins un mode choisi parmi un mode de fonctionnement pulsé, un mode de fonctionnement continu et un mode de fonctionnement super-pulsé, par l'intermédiaire du dispositif source de lumière et en direction du muscle squelettique. Le signal lumineux est appliqué pendant une durée suffisante pour stimuler une réponse photothérapeutique dans la rétine et/ou le nerf optique. La PBMT appliquée de cette manière procure un traitement non invasif, sûr et efficace de la névrite optique.
