Abstract

Il est décrit une méthode servant à tester lamincissement dun mur métallique. La méthode consiste à monter des premier et deuxième transducteurs ultrasoniques au métal de sorte quils soient en communication ultrasonique le long dune ligne de poutre, puis à déplacer les premier et deuxième transducteurs ultrasoniques le long dune ligne de balayage. On obtient une série de composés de mesures de signaux reçus en utilisant, à plusieurs emplacements, le premier transducteur ultrasonique pour transmettre des signaux ultrasoniques à travers le mur métallique le long de la ligne de poutre à plusieurs angles de transmission, puis en obtenant des composés damplitudes des signaux reçus par la combinaison damplitudes des signaux mesurés par le deuxième transducteur ultrasonique. La mise en correspondance de la série de composés dune manière prédéterminée permet dobtenir un profil de lépaisseur indiquant une proportion de lépaisseur du mur restante. On obtient cette mise en correspondance prédéterminée par voie expérimentale en vue de caractériser un mur métallique donné dune épaisseur nominale.
