The "Universal golf flagstick attachment" is a device that prevents a standard-sized golf ball from descending to the bottom of a cup when holed. The cone-shaped design features a 45-degree slope that creates a wedge shape with the inside edge of the hole where a holed golf ball comes to rest.
The "universal golf flagstick attachment" mounts on all standard-sized flagsticks; installation takes seconds and creates a tight fit around the flagstick to prevent any vertical movement.
The "Universal golf flagstick attachment" has two primary (and related) benefits. First, it makes ball retrieval easier. By setting the top of the device to a height no higher than 1.5cm below ground level, we raise the cup bottom to make holed golf balls easier to retrieve. This results in less bending and reaching for those with reduced mobility. The second benefit is a by-product of the first. In raising the cup bottom, the "Universal golf flagstick attachment" also eliminates the need to touch a flagstick. We also add an antimicrobial coating to the product to further reduce the potential for germ transfer.
Ancillary benefits of the "Universal golf flagstick attachment" include protecting the cut edge of a golf hole by deterring golfers from sticking a putter head inside a golf hole.
This poking action may cause damage to freshly cut edges at ground level or on the inside edge that measures approximately 25mm in height. The "Universal golf flagstick attachment" also eliminates a golfer from vigorously shaking and simultaneous lifting up of a flagstick to retrieve a golf ball.

Claim:
Kevin Joseph Pundyk The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined below:

1. The "Universal golf flagstick attachment" is a golf flagstick attachment that mounts on to a standard-sized flagstick to prevent a golf ball from descending to the bottom of the cup.

2. The "Universal golf flagstick attachment" as defined in Claim 1 requires a recommended diameter of no less than 44.0 mm to ensure the golf ball does not fall between the hole edge and product edge in a standard-sized golf hole measuring 107.95 mm in diameter.
While smaller diameters of the "Universal golf flagstick attachment" can be made, it may reduce the effectiveness of ball retrieval for golfers that use the flagstick to raise a golf ball from the hole.

3. The "Universal golf flagstick attachment" as defined in Claim 2, ensures a standard-sized golf ball measuring no less than 42.67mm in diameter overlaps the "Universal golf flagstick attachment" by a recommended minimum of 9.125 mm (or 21.4%) to support the standard golf ball weight of up to 45.93 grams.

4. The "Universal golf flagstick attachment" features a 45-degree slope that creates a wedge shape between the device and the edge of the hole. This suspends a holed golf ball securely in place and away from the flagstick and minimizes the likelihood of bounce outs on hole entry.

5. The "Universal golf flagstick attachment" should be set to a height of 31.75 mm below ground level from its top. Coupled with Claim 5, this ensures the top of a holed golf ball will rest at or just below ground level, making it easily retrievable for golfers at the edge of the hole.

6. The "Universal golf flagstick attachment" as defined in Claims 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 eliminates the need to touch a flagstick when a golf ball is holed.

7. The "Universal golf flagstick attachment" as defined in Claim 7 reduces the potential spread of germs by eliminating flagstick touching when retrieving a holed golf ball.

8. The "Universal golf flagstick attachment " is coated with an antimicrobial finish during the manufacturing process to further reduce the potential spread of germs.

9. The "Universal golf flagstick attachment" as defined in Claim 5 makes ball retrieval easier for golfers who want to remove the flagstick to retrieve a golf ball. By raising the flagstick from the hole, a golf ball will roll off the edge of the "Universal golf flagstick attachment" and on to the green surface.
