Abstract

An eraser glove is provided for effectively removing ink and other marking substrates from a board while keeping the fingers exposed and free to directly handle objects, such as writing implements and sports equipment. The eraser glove includes a palmar side, a dorsal side, and a plurality of finger portions extending from an upper end of the body. Each finger portion includes a bore that can receive a corresponding finger of a wearer. Each finger portion terminates prior to a knuckle of the wearer so as to expose an interphalangeal joint of the corresponding finger. A
pad is removably attached to a lateral side of the glove body at a pad receiving portion. The lateral side is opposite a thumb side and extends across the palmar and the dorsal side. The pad is able to remove and capture ink and other marking substrates from a writing surface when wiped thereagainst.

Description

Eraser Glove BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to an eraser glove. More specifically, the present invention relates to an eraser glove that allows wearers to erase markings from a board while enabling the same wearer to handle writing implements and sports equipment without requiring removal of the glove. Additionally, the eraser glove includes a pad for removing the markings that is removably attached thereto. The pad is positioned on the lateral side of the wearer's hand and ensures that the markings are removed in a wiping motion without requiring reorientation of the glove when in use.

[0002] Dry erase boards are becoming increasingly popular. Larger dry erase boards are found in classrooms and board rooms. Typical dry erase boards (also called whiteboards) include a board or substrate that is coated with an enamel, film, ultraviolet cured liquid, liquid varnish, or porcelain finish. Specially designed markers are used to write on the substrate, with a variety of dry erase ink compositions being known. The ink of the marker dries on the substrate but does not bond to the substrate surface. Consequently, marks made with the marker can be removed without requiring a comprehensive cleaning. Thus, a user can write on a dry erase board with a dry erase marker and then wipe off the writing using an eraser.

[0003] Currently, dry erase boards are cleaned using erasers with a rectangular eraser surface covered with felt-like material. These erasers suffer from several disadvantages. These rectangular erasers are only practically used at the conclusion of the presentations or at points during the presentations when major portions of (or the entire) dry erase board is erased all at once. It is common for a presenter writing on the dry erase board during a presentation to either make an error or want to change something previously written on the dry erase board. Using conventional erasers during a presentation is impractical. Specifically, the person making the presentation must stop the presentation, locate the standard eraser, and erase the erroneous marking, thereby disrupting the flow of the presentation. Alternatively, the person may choose to ignore the standard rectangular dry eraser and use a bare hand to erase the erroneous marking. The result is that, by the time the presentation ends, the hand of the presenter is covered in dry erase ink material or other marking substrates.

[0004] There are some known eraser gloves. However, these devices are impractical in many applications. For example, a coach, manager, or gym teacher may mark a dry erase board during a practice or game to illustrate set plays, formations, drills, etc. As sport games require coaching of both the presentation and the practical, the coach may require demonstration involving the handling of sports equipment. Using these known eraser gloves during a game is impractical as the person making the demonstration must stop the presentation, remove the glove, provide the practical demonstration, proceed with the presentation, don the glove, and erase the erroneous marking, thereby disrupting the flow of both the presentation and demonstration.

[0005] In light of the devices disclosed in the known art, it is submitted that the present invention substantially diverges in design elements and methods from the known art and consequently it is clear that there is a need in the art for an improvement for an eraser glove. In this regard the instant invention substantially fulfills these needs.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] In view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of eraser gloves now present in the known art. The present invention provides a new eraser glove, wherein the same can be utilized for conveniently and effectively removing ink and other marking substrates from a board and while keeping the fingers exposed and free to directly handle objects, such as writing implements and sports equipment. The eraser glove comprises a glove body having a palmar side, a dorsal side, and a plurality of finger portions extending from an upper end of the body. Each finger portions includes a bore that is adapted to receive a corresponding finger of a wearer. Each finger portions terminates prior to a knuckle of the wearer so as to expose an interphalangeal joint of the corresponding finger.

[0007] It is another object of the invention to provide an eraser glove having a pad removably attached to a lateral side of the glove body at a pad receiving portion. The lateral side is opposite a thumb side and extends across the pahrnar and the dorsal side. The pad receiving portion extends from a wrist portion to a base of one of the finger portions and the pad is adapted to remove and capture ink and other marking substrates from a writing surface when wiped thereagainst.

[0008] It is an objective of the present invention to provide an eraser glove configured to be worn during a presentation that requires both practical demonstration with equipment and notes being made to a board.

[0009] It is another objective of the present invention to provide an eraser glove having removable pad that is positioned on the lateral side of glove and includes a channel that allows the pad to contour with the side of the glove and hand.

[0010] It is yet another objective of the present invention to provide an eraser glove that is extremely easy to use and capable of being worn for long periods of time. Accordingly, the glove is donned and removed in a matter of seconds and conveniently offers a secure and comfortable fit when used for extended periods of time.

[0011] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved eraser glove that has all of the advantages of the known art and none of the disadvantages.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

However, other embodiments of the eraser glove include the pad configured to erase any known marking substrates on a surface, such as chalk on a chalkboard, graphite and ink from paper, and the like. [0022] Referring now to FIGs. 1 and 2, there is shown a perspective view of an embodiment of the eraser glove and an exploded view of an embodiment of the eraser glove with the pad removed, respectively. The eraser glove 1000 provides a fingerless glove that is adapted to be worn by a user, such as a coach, teacher, or instructor, that allows the user to grip a writing instrument while maintaining tactile contact therewith. Further, the user may utilize the eraser glove 1000 to remove ink or other marking substrates from a surface (such as a board, chalkboard or whiteboard) by wiping a portion of the glove 1000 against the markings of the surface. The eraser glove 1000 comprises a glove body 1100 having a palmar side 1200 and a dorsal side 1300 such that the glove is adapted to fit a hand of a wearer. In the shown embodiment, the palmar side 1200 is continuous with the dorsal side 1300. In alternative embodiment, the palmar and dorsal sides 1200, 1300 are joined via a thread or stitch to form a wrist portion 1400 and prevent the material around the wrist portion from stretching and becoming elongated.

[0023] The glove body 1100 includes a plurality of finger portions 1500 extending from an upper end 1150 thereof, wherein each finger portion 1500 is a bore adapted to receive a corresponding finger of a wearer when worn. In the shown embodiment, the plurality of finger portions 1500 comprises a thumb finger portion 1510, an index finger portion 1520, a middle finger portion 1530, a ringer finger portion 1540, and a pinky finger portion 1550.

[0024] In one embodiment, a pad 2000 is removably attached to a pad receiving portion 2100 of the body 1100. The pad receiving portion 2100 disposed on a lateral side 1600 of the glove body 1100, wherein the lateral side 1600 is opposite a thumb side 1700 and extends across the palmar and the dorsal side 1200, 1300. The pad receiving portion 2100 extends from the wrist portion 1400 to a base 1580 of one of the finger portions 1500. in one embodiment, the pad receiving portion 2100 is adapted to removably receive the pad 2000 via a fastener. In the shown embodiment, the pad receiving fastener is hook and loop fasteners. However, in alternative embodiments, the pad receiving fastener may include adhesive, buttons, magnets, and the like.

[0025] Specifically referring to FIG. 2, in the shown embodiment the pad 2000 is removed from the pad receiving portion 2100. The pad 2000 comprises a front side 2010 and a rear side 2020, wherein the front side 2010 comprises ink removing elements that is adapted to remove and capture ink or other mediums for making markings from a writing surface.
The rear side 2020 of the pad 2000 comprises a fastener adapted to selectively and removably engage with the pad receiving portion 2100 of the body 1100. In one embodiment, the pad fastener corresponds with the fastener of the pad receiving portion 2100 so as to mate and secure therewith. In one embodiment, the entire surface area of the rear side 2020 of the pad 2000 overlaps with the entire surface area of the pad receiving portion 2100.

[0026] In the shown embodiment, the pad 2000 comprises channel 2030 extending entirely across a first end 2040 and a second end 2050. The channel 2030 forms a living hinge such that the pad 2000 is adapted to contour to the shape of the pad receiving portion 2100. The channel 2030 is linear. However, in alternative embodiments, the channel 2030 may be curved or have another shape. The shape or curvature of the channel 2030 increases the comfort and fit of the glove 1000 when in use and can vary depending on the preference of the user. Some users use different hand motions from one another when erasing markings from a surface and therefore may desire various flexibility within the pad 2000, wherein the shape and placement of the channel 2030 contributes to the that flexibility.

In the shown embodiment, the channel 2030 is centrally disposed on the front side 2010 and forms two equally sized regions. In alternative embodiments, the channel 2030 may be offset from the center axis so as to create two or more regions having differing surface areas. When the pad 2000 is coupled to the pad receiving portion 2100, the channel 2030 is positioned over the lateral side 1600 of the body 1100 and allows the pad 2000 to contour to the shape of the wearer's hand and glove body 1100.

[0028] In the shown embodiment, a wrist band 1800 disposed at the wrist portion 1400 wherein the wrist portion 1400 is adapted to receive a hand of a wearer therein. The wrist band 1800 comprises an annular cuff that is sized to receive a hand of a wearer and encompass the wearer's wrist. The wrist band 1800 that adjusts the circumference of the cuff to fit wrists having various sizes.
The wrist band 1800 includes a fastener that allows for the adjustment of the cuff. In one embodiment, the wrist band 1800 is elastic.

In the shown embodiment, each finger portion 1500 lacks a portion for enveloping a distal phalanx of each finger. [0031] Referring now to FIGs. 4 and 5, there is shown an embodiment of the eraser glove gripping a writing implement and creating markings onto a board and the eraser glove erasing markings on a board, respectively. In the shown embodiment, the wearer is handling a writing implement 3000, such as a marker, while donning the eraser glove 1000 is making markings on a board. The configuration of the finger portions 1500 provides for direct contact between the writing implement 3000 and the wearer's fingers. If a mismarking is made on the board or the wearer desired to create writing space on the board, the wearer may wipe the pad 2000 against the writing surface to remove and capture ink or other marking substrates therefrom. In one embodiment, the glove is adapted for both right-handed and left-handed wearers.

[0032] In one embodiment, the glove 1000 comprises a plurality of pads 2000 that are interchangeable. The pads 2000 may have similar dimensions such that a first pad and a second pad are interchangeable. Claims (15)

I claim:

1. An eraser glove, comprising:
a glove body having a palmar side and a dorsal side;
the glove body further comprising a plurality of finger portions extending from an upper end of the body, wherein each finger portion is a bore adapted to receive a corresponding finger of a wearer when worn;
wherein the plurality of finger portions terminates prior to a knuckle of the wearer so as to expose an interphalangeal joint of the corresponding finger when worn;
a pad removably attached to a pad receiving portion, the pad receiving portion disposed on a lateral side of the glove body, wherein the lateral side is opposite a thumb side and extends across the palmar and the dorsal side;
wherein the pad receiving portion extends from a wrist portion to a base of one of the finger portions;
wherein the pad is adapted to remove and capture ink or other marking substrates from a writing surface when wiped thereagainst.

2. The eraser glove of claim 1, wherein the pad comprises a front side and a rear side, wherein the front side comprises ink removing elements.

3. The eraser glove of claim 2, wherein the rear side of the pad comprises a fastener adapted to selectively and removably engage with the pad receiving portion of the body.

4. The eraser glove of claim 3, wherein the pad comprises channel extending entirely across a first end and a second end, wherein the channel forms a living hinge such that the pad is adapted to contour to the shape of the pad receiving portion.

5. The eraser glove of claim 1, wherein the palmar side is continuous with the dorsal side.

6. The eraser glove of claim 1, wherein the plurality of finger portions comprises a thumb finger portion, an index finger portion, a middle finger portion, a ringer finger portion, and a pinky finger portion.

7. The eraser glove of claim 6, wherein each finger portion lacks a portion for enveloping a distal phalanx of each finger.

8. The eraser glove of claim 1, wherein the glove is adapted for both right-handed and left-handed wearers.

9. The eraser glove of claim 1, further comprising a wrist band disposed at the wrist portion wherein the wrist portion is adapted to receive a hand of a wearer therein.

10. The eraser glove of claim 9, wherein the wrist band is elastic.

11. The eraser glove of claim 1, wherein the pad is disposed exterior the glove body.

12. The eraser glove of claim 1, wherein the pad comprises a first pad that is interchangeable from the pad receiving portion with a second pad having similar dimensions.

13. The eraser glove of claim 12, wherein the second pad is adapted to remove and capture ink or other marking substrates from a writing surface when wiped thereagainst.

14. The eraser glove of claim 13, wherein the first pad is configured to remove a first type of marking substrate and a second pad configured to remove a second type of marking substrate.

15. The eraser glove of claim 1, wherein the pad is entirely coextensive with the pad receiving portion such that the pad overlaps an entire surface area of the pad receiving portion when fastened therewith.
