Description
Title: Foldable Electronic Device Cover Stand This present invention is related but not limited to the Technology industry.
Background The invention is intended to support and / or elevate an electronic device, more specifically but not limited to Tablets, Laptops, Cell Phones and Surfaces off of a surface by means of a cover. Conventionally, electronic device covers are used to protect the device, as well as raise the screen up to a viewable position on a set surface, but not elevate the device therefore resulting in the device being in an uncomfortable and not ergonomically correct position. By focusing on supporting and elevating the device, we are placing the device in a more ergonomic position.
Summary of the invention This invention seeks to provide a solution to the problem mentioned above by providing a simple and effective way to elevate the device off the surface (e.g. table) to a more ergonomically correct position. This is done by incorporating an elevated option to the device cover. This is done by using hinged mechanisms to support and raise up the device. There is a hinge positioned at the middle of the rear cover, allowing the cover to extend out as a kickstand. The next hinge is at the bottom of the kick stand, essentially connecting the rear cover to the front cover (the spine of the cover). This hinge point allows a portion of the front cover to extend back and lengthen the kickstand, thus raising up the device. The base of the front cover contains 2 hinge points which fold up to balance the base of the device upon. This will raise the device to a more ergonomically sound position.
Drawings All drawings are for illustrative purposes and are not limited to these examples EDSS-DWG-001 FIG 1. SIDE VIEW (TABLE LEVEL).
EDSS-DWG-002 FIG 2. 3D STEP 1 (TABLE LEVEL).
EDSS-DWG-003 FIG 3. SIDE VIEW (ELEVATED LEVEL).
EDSS-DWG-004 FIG 4. 30 STEP 2 (ELEVATED LEVEL).
EDSS-DWG-005 FIG 5. SIDE VIEW (ELEVATED LEVEL).
EDSS-DWG-006 FIG 6. 3D STEP 3 (ELEVATED LEVEL).
EDSS-DWG-007 FIG 7. Plan View.
How the invention works.
This invention is an electronic device cover which uses portions of the cover and hinge points to create a kickstand and base for a device. The cover has the ability to be used as a normal kickstand and as an elevated stand. This is done-by, but not limited to, using hinge points.
As can be seen in EDSS-DWG-001 & EDSS-DWG-002 (FIG 1 and FIG 2) the cover can be used in the conventional way i.e just as a stand. This is the standard method that most covers in the industry use to support the device.
1. As per EDSS-DWG-003, EDSS-DWG-004, EDSS-DWG-005 & EDSS-DWG-006 (FIG
3, FIG 4, FIG 5 & FIG 6) the cover is fully expanded and shows how the cover and hinge points create the kickstand and base to elevate and support the device.
a. There is a hinge positioned at the middle of the rear cover, allowing the bottom half of the rear cover to extend out as a kickstand.
b. The next hinge is at the bottom of the kick stand, essentially connecting the rear cover to the front cover (the spine of the cover). This hinge point allows a portion of the front cover to extend back and lengthen the kickstand, thus raising up the device.
c. The base of the front cover contains 2 hinge points which fold up to balance the base of the device upon. This will raise the device to a more ergonomically sound position.

a. EDCS-DWG-007 is a plan view of the cover completely opened. This is a representation and not limited to how the cover could be made to be able to make the stand b.
This elevated stand is preferable but not limited to an Electronic Device.
This invention will allow users to elevate and support a device / viewing surface, without having to carry around an additional stand item. It will also ensure the user is comfortable and more ergonomically positioned while using the device / viewing surface.
