Abstract
People who use mobility aids such as canes encounter reduced physical effectiveness on the requirement of bearing the cane. Nowadays when handheld devices are so common, the use of 1 or 2 hands is paramount for productivity and interaction which would otherwise be taken up by maintaining a cane or mobility device. The device proposed allows the cane to rest on the body by use of an attachment to the cane. The device is a hook, retractable or fixed, which would slide in the user's pocket, belt, or rim of pants. Description
As an individual who requires the use of a cane, I found my cane falling to the floor when I needed to use both hands on any given task. This is primarily due to a lack of surfaces to rest my cane on at the time.
Annoyed at having to pick up my fallen cane yet again, I developed the idea for a cane hook which would attach to the upper portion of the cane shaft and fit within the belt buckle, pocket, or similar articles of clothing.
By the requirement of connecting to a walking aid of variable designs and specifications, the connection point must be flexible to account for various shapes, sizes, and user preferences.
Fig.1 The Hook (1) is a solid material connected to the Attachment (2), but allows space to rest on an object (Fig.5, Fig.6, Fig.7) to which the hook attaches.
Fig.2 The Hook (1) may be designed to extend and enlarge distance from the Attachment (2) when in use, while retracting to reducing distance when not in use.
Fig.3 The Attachment (1) is affixed to the Cane (6) with adjustable Bands (4). These are fed through a Band Feed (3) on the Attachment (2) and tightened around the shaft of a Cane (6) to keep in place and closed using a Closing Device (5) depicted as a buckle.
Fig.4 Device as viewed from the side.
Fig.5 The Hook (1) can be inserted between the users Belt (9) and Clothing (8).
Fig.6 The Hook (1) can be inserted between the users Clothing (8) and self.
Fig.7 The Hook (1) can be inserted between the users Clothing (8) and Pocket (10).

Claims (5)
1) To allow the cane to rest on the user's belt buckle when not in use.
2) To allow the cane to rest on the user's pant's rim when not in use.
3) To allow the cane to rest within the user's pocket when not in use.
4) To allow the user both hands free without needing to manage a cane when not in use.
5) To reduce user error of dropping a cane requiring the user to reach to the location the cane has dropped.
