BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
A. Technical field [0001] The present invention pertains to an interactive lottery game to be played by a plurality of participants, said game comprising of a capability by participants to edit their selected values during a lottery winning value selection event with the objective to match their selected values against the winning values provided by a lottery operator.

B. Description of related art
[0002] Many individuals gamble or engage in gaming activities and/or gaming events. Most relevant to this invention is that people participate in playing state run lotteries by selecting values they think will match the drawn winning values. Entries to lottery games can be made at a physical lottery terminal, online lottery outlet, casino, or other gaming outlet.
[0003] The current lottery format is based on picking a set of values from a defined range of available values and having those values locked-in with no opportunity to change the selections. The interactive lottery game outlined in this invention where editing of selected values is permitted during the lottery draw has not been captured in prior art to the best of my knowledge and research.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0004] The present invention discloses an interactive lottery game where participants are able to edit their selected lottery values during a live lottery draw or simulated lottery draw.
[0005] In one embodiment, participants are able to increase selections one unit at a time.
For example, if a participant's original selection was 5, they could increase the value of this selection by 1 to 6.
For example, if a participant's original selection was 5, they could increase the value of this selection by 1 to 6.
[0006] In one embodiment, participants are able to increase selections by multiple units at a time. For example, if a participant's original selection was 5, they could increase the value of this selection by 2 to 7.
[0007] In one embodiment, participants are able to decrease selections one unit at a time.
For example, if a participant's original selection was 5, they could decrease the value of this selection by 1 to 4.
For example, if a participant's original selection was 5, they could decrease the value of this selection by 1 to 4.
[0008] In one embodiment, participants are able to decrease selections by multiple units at a time. For example, if a participant's original selection was 5, they could decrease the value of this selection by 2 to 3.
[0009] In one embodiment, participants are able to replace a selection with a random new number. For example, if a participant's original selection was 5, they could have this number randomly replaced with another number such as 17.
[0010] In one embodiment, participants are able to replace a selection with a number that matches a drawn winning number. For example, if a participant's original selection was 5, and the drawn winning number was 18, they could change their selection of 5 to 18.
[0011] In one embodiment, participants are able to replace their full set of selected values with a new set of randomly generated values. For example, if a participant's original selection set was 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and they could request a new set of values which might be 12, 15, 21, 45, 47.
[0012] In one embodiment, participants are able to replace a selection with a number from a set of very quickly displayed values (i.e. displayed for just a split second). The system would quickly flash values and the participant would try to click a number to select the one they want.
[0013] In one embodiment, a timer is used to limit the amount of time a player has to edit their selected values.
[0014] In one embodiment, there is a limit on the number of edits available for a single lottery event (i.e. there might only be a single use of the 'increase' edit available for a lottery draw event).
[0015] In one embodiment, potential winnings are presented to the player for each possible winning combination.
[0016] In one embodiment, players are able to make selections via a physical lottery booth and be provided with a paper selection slip which can be used to access an online version of the game.
[0017] In one embodiment, results are generated from a real-life lottery draw.
[0018] In one embodiment, results are generated from a computerized lottery simulation.
This might be the case if this game were to be played at a slot machine or gambling intern&
site where players can play and have instant lottery results.
This might be the case if this game were to be played at a slot machine or gambling intern&
site where players can play and have instant lottery results.
[0019] In one embodiment, players are able to make selections via a mobile communication device, laptop, personal computer, slot machine, or other electronic device.
[0020] In one embodiment, a message is generated and displayed to the participating player that informs him/her of either a losing result or informs them of a winning result.
[0021] This game can have many variations by lottery type (i.e. pick 7 of 47, or 6 of 49 etc), but to provide additional clarity on game-play, a sample variation of the game is provided here where participants are asked to pick 5 numbers out of 47:
a. Step 1. A state lottery game is implemented with the objective to pick 5 numbers out of 47.
b. Step 2. The player is presented with a list of available numbers on a given date either via a paper selection slip or via a user communication device such as a personal computer, laptop, mobile device, video game terminal, slot machine or other user interface.
c. Step 3. The player is informed of potential winnings should their selections be correct.
d. Step 4. The player makes seven selections of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and they are captured by the lottery terminal or communication device. At this time the player also pays the wager amount using cash, credit card. Debit card or other payment method.
e. Step 5. At a specified time, the lottery draw takes place.
f Step 6. The 1st number drawn is 15.
g. Step 7. The participant has 10 seconds to decide if the number 15 matches one of their selections or if they can edit one of their selections to match the drawn number. In this case there is a match and the participant can click on their selected number 15 to record it as a match.
h. Step 8. The system records that one number has been drawn and 1 of 5 numbers are matched.
i. Step 9. The 2nd number drawn is 6.
j. Step 10. The participant has 10 seconds to decide the number 6 matches one of their selections or if they can edit one of their selections to match the drawn number. In this case there is a no match but the participant can increase their selected number 5 by 1 to make it a 6.
k. Step 11. The system records two numbers have been drawn and that 2 of 5 numbers are matched.
1. Step 12. The 3rd number drawn is 1.
m. Step 13. The participant has 10 seconds to decide the drawn number 1 matches one of their selections or if they can edit one of their selections to match the drawn number. In this case there is a no match but the participant can randomly replace this number with a new number. The new random number is 47, this is also not a match.
n. Step 14. The system records that three numbers have been drawn and 2 of 5 numbers are matched.
o. Step 15. The 4th number drawn is 19.
p. Step 16. The participant has 10 seconds to decide the number 19 matches one of their selections or if they can edit one of their selections to match the drawn number. In this case there is a no match but the participant can decrease their selected number 20 by 1 to make it a 19.
q. Step 17. The system records that four numbers have been drawn and 3 of 5 numbers are matched.
r. Step 18. The 5th number drawn is 38.
s. Step 19. The participant has 10 seconds to decide the number 19 matches one of their selections or if they can edit one of their selections to match the drawn number. In this case there is a no match and the participant does not have any opportunity to edit one of their selections to match.
t. Step 20. The system records that five numbers have been drawn and 3 of 5 numbers are matched.
u. Step 21. If a prize was associated with matching 3 out of 5, then the participant would be presented with a winning message.
