Abstract

Des méthodes et des systèmes de production de biométhanol peuvent comprendre ceci : la digestion anaérobie dune matière première de biomasse pour produire du biogaz, dont le méthane et le dioxyde de carbone; loxydation partielle du biogaz avec loxygène de lélectrolyse de leau pour produire un gaz synthétique; la synthétisation du biométhanol à partir du gaz synthétique et de lhydrogène de lélectrolyse de leau; le stockage du biométhanol; lutilisation intermittente de lélectricité dune batterie pour produire lélectrolyse pendant la demande de pointe délectricité; et lutilisation intermittente de lélectricité renouvelable dune autre source en dehors de la demande de pointe. Facultativement, lélectricité peut également être obtenue par combustion périodique dune portion du biométhanol. Les techniques permettent un mode de production de biométhanol sans recours aux combustibles fossiles comme matière première en réduisant les émissions de gaz à effet de serre produites par les combustibles fossiles lors du traitement et de lutilisation de carburants de transport et dalcools commerciaux ou industriels.
