Abstract

L'invention concerne un système et un procédé associé destinés à capturer des données d'images panoramiques et stéréoscopiques, qui peuvent être utilisés pour produire des vidéos panoramiques et stéréoscopiques à utiliser en conjonction avec des dispositifs appropriés d'affichage à réalité virtuelle. Le système fait appel à un agencement de caméras constitué d'une pluralité de paires de caméras positionnées de façon à capturer un environnement sur 360°. Chaque paire de caméras comporte une caméra d'il gauche et une caméra d'il droit et les deux plans de caméras de chaque paire de caméras sont sensiblement parallèles entre eux. Les paires de caméras peuvent être agencées par niveaux de hauteurs variables afin de s'adapter à un plus grand nombre de paires de caméras, enrichissant ainsi les données d'images résultantes. Une fois que les données d'images ont été capturées, des vidéos panoramiques d'il gauche et d'il droit sont générées en fusionnant les images correspondantes issues de chaque caméra d'il gauche à chaque instant et de chaque caméra d'il droit à chaque instant. Les vidéos résultantes peuvent alors être délivrées en sortie à des fins de visualisation panoramique et stéréoscopique.
