Bombardier Transportation GmbH
Device for locking objects in rail vehicles The invention relates to a device for locking oblong objects, in particular surfboards, skis or snowboards, in rail vehicles in accordance with the preamble of Claim 1 and a rail vehicle in accordance with the preamble of Claim 13.
Prior art in particular knows devices for the fastening of surfboards at or on motor vehicles.
By means of such devices, the surfboards are inserted into and retained by special carrier devices attached either at the roof or at the rear of the vehicle. Such a device is, for example, disclosed by the publication DE 9016382 U1. The roof rack comprises a supporting frame made of brackets with rails that carry the retaining arms. Stepless and vertical locking is not enabled by the device.
The publication US 2010/0213226 Al discloses a retainer for watercraft mounted at the rear side of a box-shaped recreation vehicle. The device can be moved in axial direction of the watercraft by means of a system of telescoping rods and can, in addition, be engaged in a position away from the rear side of the recreation vehicle. The actual retainer likewise consists of a closed slidable system of rods. The handling of the device, which needs to be moved upward to lock it and needs to be secured appropriately, has to be rated as cumbersome.
A comparable device for surfboards is disclosed in the publication US
2009/0261136 Al in which, however, vertical adjustment of the retainer is not provided for.
The publication FR 2532611 describes a device for the fastening of a surfboard at or on a boat. The surfboard is, in horizontal position, inserted into or fastened to a fastening device arranged at or on the boat. The device comprises two C-shaped retainers spaced apart from each other at a fixed distance. The C-shaped retainers are rigidly mounted to the boat or a system of rods and their position to each other cannot be changed. However, appropriate means are provided to enable adjustment or sliding of the brackets of the C-shaped retainers in relation to their position to each other.
By their nature, the known devices are each designed for specific applications, and in that form not suitable for designing such a device for use in rail vehicles.

Bombardier Transportation GmbH
Therefore, the object of the invention is to create a device of the kind specified first above which is suitable for use in rail vehicles and guarantees the safe transport of oblong objects of different lengths and, moreover, guarantees simple handling.
According to the invention, the object is achieved by providing a vertical retainer section in a rail vehicle, which section is connected to the carriage body of the rail vehicle, with a retaining element being arranged at the retainer section and with the retaining element having a cause-effect relationship with the retainer section to bring about the locking of the oblong objects.
According to an embodiment of the invention, the retainer section comprises two parallel guide rails spaced apart from each other, which are arranged inside the rail vehicle at fixed positions to each other, the retaining element being slidable along the guide rails preferably in a stepless fashion. Through this, a high stability of the device is achieved.
According to a further characteristic feature of the aforesaid embodiment, the retaining element preferably has at least two mirror-symmetrically arranged bow-shaped retaining arms arranged at a carrier, the carrier having bearings designed to guide the retaining element on the guide rails.
An advantageous characteristic feature is that an operating handle is arranged at the retaining element, serving to make handling of the device easier. To limit the downward vertical movement of the retaining element, a further advantageous characteristic feature provided is that at least one of the guide rails has a limiting element. For example, to fasten a surfboard, the retaining element is moved upward on the retainer section. The board is then placed into a holder (trough) provided at the floor of the vehicle and inserted into the retaining element. The retaining element is then moved downward by gravity, bow-shaped arms of the retaining element encompassing the surfboard at the sides.
In an advantageous version, the device according to this embodiment of the invention enables stepless adjustment, without additional components being required for secure locking. Locking takes place in a simple manner by the action of gravity. The device is in particular characterised by simple handling.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the retainer section is formed by a vertical rod connected to the carriage body of the rail vehicle and by a horizontal tubular structure connected thereto, the retaining element having a horizontally rotatable retaining Bombardier Transportation GmbH
bracket which is mounted to the aforesaid rod. According to a preferred characteristic feature of the invention, it is intended that the retaining bracket can be locked by means of a gas spring structure. To fasten the objects specified above, the retaining bracket is slewed away and the object is brought into a correct position and retained in the locked position by the retaining bracket, driven by the gas spring. Supported by the gas spring, the oblong objects placed into the device are retained and locked.
According to further characteristic features of the invention, the retainer section and the retaining bracket as well as the retaining arms and/or the operating handle of the respective embodiments have surfaces which are rubberised or lined with rubber elements.
In an advantageous version, this prevents damage to the surface of the objects to be locked and, in addition, the objects are secured against slipping or held in place.
According to a further characteristic feature of the invention, means for holding the objects to be locked in place at the floor are provided below the retainer section.
Advantageously, these means comprise a bowl-shaped or trough-shaped indentation in or on the car floor of the rail vehicle. In an advantageous version, this additionally secures the objects to be retained.
Furthermore, the invention relates to a rail vehicle, in particular for local and regional rail, which is equipped for locking oblong objects, in particular surfboards, skis or snowboards, and in which a device according to the characteristic features of at least one of the claims above is arranged at the right and/or left side of the door area, preferably behind the backrest of a seat. To avoid repetition, reference is made to the above explanations regarding the individual characteristic features.
Embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing and explained below. The figures show the following:
Fig. 1 the arrangement of a first embodiment of the device inside the compartment of a rail vehicle which is only indicated;
Fig. 2 a front view of the device according to Fig. 1;
