Abstract
The curling head bumper is a lightweight protective pad that is securely attached to the back of a standard baseball hat through the hat hole with a hook and loop adhesive material.
Its purpose is to help mitigate the consequences of a backwards slip and fall in the game of curling.
The pad is made of shock absorbing foam shaped to fit closely to the occipital and parietal skull bones.
This pad may have a hard shaped plastic shell on the exterior. It is unobtrusive, ventilated, and is shaped to not interfere with the game of curling

Description
Specification In the sport of curling, the possibility of a slip and fall on the ice is real. Curlers wear a slider on one foot increasing the incidence of a fall. Although such a fall would only be from a standing height, it is the backwards fall and its consequences that scare many (especially older) curlers. A forward or sideways fall can usually be mitigated with an arm extension.
Some curlers wear helmets or The Sport Band to mitigate a fall and concussion.., but most won't.
Hence my idea of The Curling Head Bumper . A protective pad attached by hook and loop to the back of your favourite baseball cap. This lightweight non-obtrusive head protection will not interfere with the sport, looks "cool", and is brand able. It will be produced out of shock absorbing foam with or without an exterior plastic shell. It will be produced to protect according to the impact clause of CAN/CSA Z262.2-M90.

Claims
Claims:
The embodiment of the Curling Head Bumper invention in which an exclusive privilege is claimed is as follows:
This light weight , non-obtrusive head protection device is produced out of a shock absorbing foam securely attached by hoop and loop material through the back hole of a baseball cap (but is removable).
It may come with an exterior plastic shell, shaped to the back of the head, but will not interfere with the game of curling. It may be produced in multiple shapes, colours, and sizes with ventilation holes. An option is to be permanently attached to a baseball hat, toque, or a head band.
Limitations:
This product will not prevent a fall in the sport of curling. It will only help to mitigate the effects of a backwards fall, if worn correctly on a properly fitting and secure baseball hat.
Disclosures:
This invention was drawn by Keith and Kenny Edwards, plus Barb Tigani for this patent application.
