Abstract

"in a tool for hauling UTV's (Utility Vehicle) its known to take up a large amount of space either with a frame inside the pickup box ( truck) with a deck above the box for the UTV to sit on, or a riser partially inside the pickup box & the rest partially above it.
On a short or standard bed pickup it puts weight on the wheel wells spreading the box and on the short bed it puts weight on the tailgate that will ruin them.
In this invention it raises the UTV above the wheel wells in the front of the box & extends past the end of the pickup box, but keeps the weight of the UTV off the pickup tailgate. With the UTV unloaded The hinged extensions can be folded up to enable closing the tailgate so if you lock your tailgate it is hard to remove, and you do not have to remove it.
With the hauler standing on end it can be easily stored in a 60" wide by 79" high by 31" deep area.

Description

Specification 1) General character of the class of article or the kind of process to which the invention (that is, the inventive idea) relates.
"This invention relates to a tool for hauling UTV's inside a pickup box."
2) "The nature, in general terms, of the articles or processes previously known or used that are supposed to be improved or replaced by the invention, as well as the difficulties and inconveniences involved.
It is common for devises for hauling UTV's to put the UTV above the box height & some put weight on the tailgate or necessitate the removal of the tailgate.
Tools of this type are, however inefficient because the lesson the stability and handling characteristics of the pickup. The height makes the loading of the UTV
dangerous and cumbersome. The weight put on the wheel wells forces the box sides outward stressing the fasteners and spreading the box, the weight if on the tailgate is too much for the purpose and bends and ruin's the tailgate."
3) "Inventive idea the new article or process embodies, and the way using it overcomes the difficulties and inconveniences of previous practices or proposals.
"I have found these disadvantages maybe overcome by providing a raised angled platform that keeps the UN inside the box, while raising it above the wheel wells it doesn't force the box sides outward. Keeping it lower keeps the center of gravity lower maintaining better stability and pickup handling close to normal. The raised portion allows usage of the box underneath the UTV for gas can or other item storage.
The extended hinged tail sections keep the weight off the tailgate and enables closing and locking the tailgate when the UTV is unloaded so removal of the hauler is not needed. The light weight of aluminum and the small foot print, 60" wide by 79"
high while extensions folded and 31" deep make easy for one person to handle and store when not installed in the pickup."
4) A full description of the best way of using or putting into operation the inventive idea.
If there are drawings, the description should follow a list of numbered drawings. Open tail gate, load the UTV Hauler into the pickup box & tie down the front end to box anchors in the front corners. Attach ramps of your choosing to the rear end of the UTV
Hauler and secure, align the ramps with the UN wheels width. Slowly drive the UTV
on to the UN Hauler until the front wheels come up against the front rack.
Engage the park brake firmly. Climb out of the UN and securely tie it down with cargo straps of appropriate size, remove and stow the ramps inside the pickup box and secure.
Check around pickup to ensure everything is secured, you are ready for travel. The following 1-3 drawings show the UTV Hauler in detail.
