FIG. 7 is a top plan view of the structure of FIG. 3 FIG. 8 is a back end view of the structure of FIG. 3; and FIG. 9 is a side vlew of the structure of FIG. 3, DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Reference Is now made to FIGS. 1-3 which show a video card 20 constructed according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
The video card will be seen to include a video display portion 22 and a cover portion 24.
The video display portion will be seen to be generally rectangular, to have 5 buttons 26 defined therein, and to have a video display 28.
The cover portion 24 will be seen to function In a manner analogous to the cover of a book, and to be movable between open and closed positions.
In use, when the cover portion 24 Is closed, the video display 28 is Inactive.
When the cover portion 24 is opened, the video display 28 activates and an invitation to operate the device is presented to the user.
Actuation of any of the buttons 26 causes a video currently playing to be terminated and the video associated with the button to be presented on the display 28.
Reference is now made to FIGS, 4-5B, which shows various steps in the constructed of the card.
With reference to FIG. SB, it will be seen that construction of the card commences with a single sheet of cardboard 30; a video display unit 32; and a magnet 34.
The single sheet of cardboard has 7 creases In lt, to define 8 portions 30A-30H, along with an aperture 36.
The video display unit 32 has opposed parallel faces 38,40, one having the display 28 formed therein and also having five buttons 42, a speaker 44 and a magnetic sensor 46.
For use:
= the magnet 34 Is secured, by adhesive or the like, to portion 308 = portion 30A is overlaid and secured, by adhesive or the like, to portion 30B, to form cover portion 24 = portion 30H is overlaid and secured, by adhesive or the like, to portion 30D, to form an open-ended rectangular sleeve, as Seen in FIGS. 1-3 = video display unit 32 is suitably programmed and slid Into sleeve, bringing display 28 into alignment with aperture 36 In use, closure of the cover portion 24 brings magnet 34 into contact with magnetic sensor 46, thereby to render the display inactive until cover portion 24 Is again opened.
When cover portion 24 is open, depression of cardboard cover above a button causes the unit to present video associated with the button through the display. Audio associated with the button car, also optionally be presented, through the speaker.
The system of manufacture permits great flexibility.
Although five (5) buttons are provided on the unit 32, the unit 32 can be programmed so that any number of the buttons can be operable; to give full effect to this, cardboard cover can be pre-printed, with button covers, that overlie the physical buttons, when the unit is operatively positioned within the sleeve. Programming and charging of the unit Is carried out via USB portion Yet further variations are possible. Accordingly, the invention should be understood as limited only by the accompanying claims, purposively construed.
