Abstract
The DOGONIT PET BED is a waterproof, vinyl, cushioned pillow (5.1 cm. thick), covered with a removable, washable, pre-shrunk, fabric, sleeve/sham envelope covering used as a resting/sleeping place for pets (primarily dogs and cats).
The DOGONIT PET BED is manufactured in various sizes (length x width) to fit the inside floor dimensions of many standard, pet crates or to custom ordered sizes.

DESCRIPTION
The DOGONIT Pet Bed is a 2 part bed designed primarily for dogs and cats.
Part 1: A vinyl cushioned pillow (5.1cm. thick) Figure 3, sized (length x width) to fit most standard sized kennels/crates. The vinyl, covers an equal sized rectangle of Fiber Form Fill E (Figures 1 and 2), allowing for 1.27 cm. seam allowance on all four sides. The Fiber Form Fill E is odour free, hypoallergenic and retains its shape. The vinyl covering provides waterproofing of the fiber fill once the vinyl cushioned pillow is completed. (Figure 3) Part 2: Is the fabric covering/sleeve/sham over the vinyl cushion. The fabric covering/sleeve/sham is made from 2 pieces of any number of fabric materials requested by potential buyers, but primarily, flannel, cottons, fleeces. The first of the 2 fabric pieces is the same size as the vinyl rectangles (including the 1.27 cm.
seam allowance) and the second piece is 12.7cm. longer (Figure 4). The longer fabric piece is cut in half width wise (Figure 5). The fabric pieces are then laid right sides together with the longer fabric piece that is cut in half width wise overlapped in the middle of the first of the 2 fabric pieces (Figure 6). The fabric covering/sleeve/sham is referred to as an envelope in nature (see Figures 7, 8, 10).
It was created this way to prohibit pets from chewing off buttons, snaps zippers etc.
The fabric covering/sleeve/sham can be easily removed and washed regularly.
The vinyl cushion need only be wiped clean and dry. Separate and extra, fabric coverings/sleeves/shams will be made available for purchase.
The primary innovation of this pet bed is the longevity of the vinyl cushion under normal use. Most pet beds are made from a polyfoam core covered with fabric.
Unfortunately these pet beds can only have the outer fabric covering laundered and in short time the polyfoam core becomes stained and harbours odours, especially if the pet urinates, defecates or vomits in the bed. Ultimately, the entire bed needs to be replaced as the polyfoam cores are not sold separately.
In the case of the DOGONIT Pet Bed, a wipe clean and dry of the vinyl cushion, (with or without) common, non-corrosive, household cleaners is all that is necessary. Coupled with a simple hand or machine laundering of the fabric covering/sleeve/sham, will return the pet bed to its clean, dry, normal odour free condition.

Claims (3)
1. Part 1 of the DOGONIT PET BED is a waterproof, vinyl, cushioned pillow (5.1 cm. thick), comprised of:
.cndot. 2 matching low density FIBER FORM FILL E, (plus 1.27 cm. on all 4 sides for seam allowance), seamed inside out on 3 sides by means of a machined, short straight stitch. (minimum 7 stitches per cm.), then turned right side out.
.cndot. Between the vinyl rectangles is an equal sized rectangle (less the 1.27 cm. seam allowance on all 4 sides) of low density FIBER FORM FILL E
(5.1 cm. thick). The low density FIBER FORM FILL E is stuffed into the open 4th. side of the vinyl rectangle then seamed closed by means of a machined, short straight stitch. (minimum 7 stitches per cm.).

2. Part 2 of the DOGONIT PET BED is a fabric covering (of choice) to cover the vinyl, cushioned pillow as outlined in Part 1. The fabric covering is comprised of:

The second fabric piece is equal in width (including seam allowance) to the first fabric piece but 12.7cm. longer (including seam allowance).
