Abstract
THIS IS A PORTABLE UNIT DESIGNED TO PROVIDE A MACHINE PROCESS TO THE
FIELD. THIS PROCESS IS DONE WHILE THE COIL TUBING IS STILL ATTACHED TO
THE MOBILE COIL TUBING UNIT. ONCE THE UNIT IS SECURLY FASTENED TO THE
COIL TUBING THIS INVENTION PROVIDES THE ABILITY TO REMOVE THE WELDED
SEAM IN ALL SIZES OF COIL TUBING WITH A ROTATING CUTTER THAT WILL
ADJUST TO THE COIL ANGLE AND NATURAL BENDING (MEMORY) BY PIVOTING
THE CUTTER WHILE ROTATING. ALSO BEING ABLE TO POSITION CUTTER THRU
STRAIGHT LINE INSIDE THE COIL TUBING.
FIELD. THIS PROCESS IS DONE WHILE THE COIL TUBING IS STILL ATTACHED TO
THE MOBILE COIL TUBING UNIT. ONCE THE UNIT IS SECURLY FASTENED TO THE
COIL TUBING THIS INVENTION PROVIDES THE ABILITY TO REMOVE THE WELDED
SEAM IN ALL SIZES OF COIL TUBING WITH A ROTATING CUTTER THAT WILL
ADJUST TO THE COIL ANGLE AND NATURAL BENDING (MEMORY) BY PIVOTING
THE CUTTER WHILE ROTATING. ALSO BEING ABLE TO POSITION CUTTER THRU
STRAIGHT LINE INSIDE THE COIL TUBING.

COMPONENTS ARE ASSEMBLED AS FOLLOWS:
SLIDE COIL TUBING MOUNTING SLEEVE # 1 ONTO THE COIL TUBING AND SECURE
WITH ATTACHMENT SCREWS # 6. AS BEST SEEN IN FIG 1 SLIDE CUTTER BASE ROTATING BRACKET # 2 OVER COIL TUBING MOUNTING
SLEEVE # 1 AND LINE UP ROTATION GROOVES WITH ROTATION SCREW HOLES, INSERT AND TIGHTEN (3) SCREWS #7 UNTIL THEY SHOULDER OUT LEAVING
CUTTER BASE ROTATION SLEEVE FREE TO ROTATE. INSERT THE (2) BRASS LOCK
BOLTS TO BE USED WHEN NEEDED. AS BEST SEEN IN FIG 1 ATTACH ADJUSTABLE CUTTER BUSHING #3 TO PROVIDED TANGS ON ROTATING

INSERT ROUND CUTTER AND STEADY BAR INTO ADJUSTABLE CUTTER BUSHING

ADJUSTABLE CUTTER BUSHING #3 WITH FLAT SCREWS. PULL CUTTER/STEADY
BAR OUT OF COIL, ROTATE SLEEVE #2 TO LINE UP CUTTER WITH SEAM. (RE -ADJUST IF NECESSARY) AS BEST SEEN IN FIG 2 ATTTACH 1/2" PORTABLE HAND DRILL TO STEADY BAR DRIVE PIN SLOWLY
START ROTATING CUTTER AND ADJUST ACCORDINGLY TO REMOVE SEAM FROM
INSIDE OF COIL.THE ROTATING CUTTER CAN BE MANOUVERED TO FOLLOW THE
INNER CONTOUR OF THE COIL TUBING.

CUSTOMER NEED. THE COIL TUBING INDUSTRY REQUIRES A LARGE VARIETY OF
TOOLS TO BE SECURELY MOUNTED TO THE END OF THE COIL. THESE
REMOVABLE TOOLS ALL REQUIRE THE ABILITY TO CONTAIN GAS AND FLUID
PRESSURE AS IT PASSES THROUGH THE TOOLING ON THE WAY DOWN HOLE. IN
ORDER TO DO THIS THE INSIDE OF THE COIL NEEDS TO HAVE A SMOOTH
SEALING FACE FOR ELASTOMER SEALS TO PRESS AGAINST. COIL TUBING
TYPICALLY HAS A WELDED SEAM LEFT OVER FROM MANUFACTURING RUNNING
THE FULL LENGTH ON THE INSIDE. THE INVENTION BEING APPLIED FOR PATENT, ADDRESSES ALL THE ISSUES INVOLVED WITH REMOVING THIS SEAM TO THE
DEPTHS THE INDUSTRY REQUIRES. THIS TOOL IS PORTABLE AND IS MOUNTED
DIRECTLY TO THE COIL TUBING IN THE FIELD UNTIL SEAM REMOVAL IS
COMPLETED. THIS TOOL IS UNIQUELY DESIGNED TO COMPENSATE FOR THE
COILS "MEMORY "OR SET AS WELL AS DEALING WITH USED COILS TENDENCY TO
BE OUT OF ROUND. THE CUTTER ACTS ON ONE SIDE ONLY (THE SIDE WHERE
THE WELD FLASHING IS) AND CAN PIVOT AND SWIVEL TO MANOEUVRE IN A
MULTITUDE OF WAYS WHILE WORKING UP INSIDE THE COIL.

CUSTOMER NEED. THE COIL TUBING INDUSTRY REQUIRES A LARGE VARIETY OF
TOOLS TO BE SECURELY MOUNTED TO THE END OF THE COIL. THESE
REMOVABLE TOOLS ALL REQUIRE THE ABILITY TO CONTAIN GAS AND FLUID
PRESSURE AS IT PASSES THROUGH THE TOOLING ON THE WAY DOWN HOLE. IN
ORDER TO DO THIS THE INSIDE OF THE COIL NEEDS TO HAVE A SMOOTH
SEALING FACE FOR ELASTOMER SEALS TO PRESS AGAINST. COIL TUBING

REQURIES THE PIPE TO BE ROTATED AGAINST A PASSIVE GRINDER
THE TOOL BEING REQUESTED FOR PATENTING DIFFERS FROM THE KNOWN COIL
TUBING DRESSING TOOLS IN THAT IT IS PORTABLE AND SMALL ENOUGH TO BE
FIXED TO COIL TUBING WHILE THE TUBING IS MOUNTED TO A COIL TUBING
