Abstract
The Power Hockey Harness is a product that will technically allow a skater to maximize his or her skating efficiency while improving and/or maintaining proper skating technique and body position. It will also allow the body to build muscle and improve strength. As well, it can be used in training for improving shooting ability of a hockey puck. Furthermore, the "y-spine" attachment allows a person to change his/her angle of skating.
Description
Specification 1. This product is called the Power Hockey Harness (see fig. 1) and is used for the developing the skills of skating and hockey shooting.
2. This harness helps maximize a skating stride by making the body bend its legs at different degrees. The bungees give the flexibility to the person to enable the legs to contract and expand. If the person doesn't fully extend the leg and use the gluteus muscle group, the bungees will kick up the person's skate indicating that they are not using the full potential of their leg. This is where the product us strengthening the person's legs.
The deep knee bend the bungees demand promotes constant strengthening of the quadriceps muscles. With the 6 holes in the strap to adjust the leg bungees position, a skater can:
1. build leg strength in stages 2. allow for maximizing full range in leg stride 3. A) This harness develops proper skating technique through the use of proper arm swing when skating promoted by the arm bungees. The arm bungees allow for arm swing resis-tance as the same effect that the legs can go through. This creates better in-synch skating with the arms and legs. As well, a skater will feel the bungee cords hitting the front of his/
her body which would indicate to him/her that he/she is swinging his/her arms improperly.
B) This harness can also be used for shooting development (shooting a hockey puck) through resistance training. While the arm bungees are attached to the harness, a player will learn to use all the muscles in their arms and core muscles through the resistance felt while shooting, stick handling, and passing a puck. The bungee cords have 6 different places to attach to on the belt, customizing the fit and depending on the need of the player by compli-menting different styles of shooting (e.g. slap shot, wrist shot, backhand, snap shot, etc.).

4. The "Y-spine" at the back of the harness promotes proper posture during skating. The "Y-spine's" purpose is to straighten one's posture which can change the skater's position of skating to a better upright position and that would make one a more efficient skater. The adjustment on the "Y-spine" strap will allow a skater to have different upright positions of skating for forward, backward and lateral movement. This "Y-spine" will also allow a skater to have better posture while passing, shooting and stick handling a puck and while checking.
5. The harness starts with a belt that goes around a person's waist (refer to figure 2 and photo 2). The belt's width is 1 1/2 inches. The belt is adjustable in length using a 3 inch frog buckle to match any person's waist size. All around the belt are holes with half inch grom-mets for attaching bungee cords used by the arms (6 on each side of the belt).
Hanging from the rear of the belt are 2 straps (1 1/2 inch wide and long) with 6 holes (1/2 inch grommets) that fall down over each buttock. These 2 straps are the attachments for the leg bungees.
Specification (cont'd) 6. The harness' next pieces are straps (1 1/2 inches wide) that attach with frog buckles through loops on the belt in the front and back. The straps go over the front of the body-each strap from the right and left hip goes over your right and left shoulders, respectively (refer to fig.
4 and photo 4). Each strap has a pad (2 1/2 inches wide and 1 cm thick foam) over it where it rests on the shoulders. As well, each strap is adjustable in length with a frog buckle. At the back, these two straps form a "Y-spine" on the upper portion of the back (refer to figure 4 and photo 4) , after passing over the shoulders. It attaches in the center of the back of the belt and has flexible movement along the belt via a loop (same material at belt and straps) around the belt . It attaches to the loop by a frog buckle (see fig. 2). The "Y-spine" at the back of the harness is also able to adjust its length using the frog buckle.

7. Also, attached to this harness are bungee cords for your arms (refer to figure 3 and photo 3A). The bungee cord for each arm hook to the belt through the holes in the belt using a carabiner and is attached to hockey gloves in a noose-like fashion. These bungee cords come in three different sizes (junior, senior and professional).
8. Also, attached to this harness are bungee cords for your legs (refer to figure 3 and photo 3B). The bungee cord for each leg hook to a hanging strap (that is 1 1/2 inches wide, inches long and has 6 holes with 1/2 inch grommets and is made of the same material used for the rest of the harness) with a carabiner. This allows the leg bungees to be adjustable in length. At the other end of the bungee is a noose for attaching the bungee to the skate.
These bungee cords come in three different sizes (junior, senior and professional).
These bungee cords come in three different sizes (junior, senior and professional).
