Description
DESCRIPTION:
FIELD OF INVENTION:
This invention relates to a diet tea product that is aimed at creating a healthy aid to weight control while at the same time providing a pleasant drink that is both healthy and enjoyable.
This invention is an alternative diet option to people who cannot or prefer not to consume pills as diet supplements. Due to the bitter taste of Hoodia, it is currently only produced in pill form for general consumption.
It is understood that that the term "diet tea product" as used in this specification is intended to mean a diet tea that has been processed to a stage at which it is ready for the consumer market, for the purpose of the preparation of beverages by a customer, by means of an extraction process in which the tea is contacted with hot or cold water. The term therefore excludes any usage that is not in the form of a beverage.
Rooibos Tea (Aspalathus linearis) and Honey bush tea (Cyclopia Intermedia) are gaining in popularity with consumers due to their unusually high anti-oxidant component as well as the fact that they are the only known tea that is naturally free of caffeine. Studies have also shown that Rooibos tea has an anti spasmodic nature and as such has been used for generations as a supplement to babies suffering with colic or stomach ailments. Currently there is a substantial change in consumer beverage choice causing more people to choose tea instead of coffee as their beverage of preference. In particular there has been a substantial growth in demand for green tea due primarily to its anti oxidant components. Rooibos tea however has substantially higher anti oxidant components than green tea but consumers have not been educated adequately concerning this tea yet.
Hoodia Gordonii has for many years been used by the Bushmen of South Africa as an aid to hunger suppressant while traveling for days through desert regions on hunting expeditions. The consumption of Hoodia has shown through experience that there are no known side effects through usage of this plant.
Since its discovery, it has been introduced around the world as a hunger suppressant. Hoodia Gordonii is found only in certain regions of South Africa and to date has not been successfully cultivated in any other part of the world.
OBJECT OF THE INVENTION:
It is the object of this invention to provide a diet supplement in the form of a healthy tea based beverage that contains no caffeine, high anti-oxidants and other health benefits not normally found in diet supplements.
In addition it is the object of this invention to provide an alternative to consumers wanting to avail themselves of the benefits of Hoodia Gordonii but who cannot or prefer not to take it in pill form. By delivering Hoodia in a tea that is also healthy and tasty, more consumers can benefit from the combination afforded them with this product.
