Abstract
A versatile exercise device is provided in the form of a transparent soft hollow ball with an acupuncture grip pad on the opposite sides of the ball. With one or more heavier inner balls, or objects that could vary in sizes, weight, shapes and color. It also has an optional electronic counter that keeps track of the rotation of the inner ball.
Description
Description TITLE: ORBIT BALL
Field of the invention The invention is intended to be use in the fitness, therapeutic or recreational field.
BACKGROUND ART:
This invention relates to a new type of exercise device specifically a ball that intends to be used in the fitness, therapeutic or recreational field.
With the realization of our society that we need to be more active, exercise more, eat better. Simply take better care of ourselves comes the increasingly demand for fitness equipment. Especially equipment that can be used anywhere, by anybody regardless of fitness abilities or levels.
At the same health techniques like acupuncture are being more popular in our society.
Hand acupuncture specifically started in Korea where it was noted that you would find a tender spot on the hand and as you touched it various joint and back pains were relieve for 6 hours and longer. This led to the development of hand acupuncture to aid in the treatment of many illnesses. There are also acupuncture points that stimulate and sedate various meridians. It is believed that if you press on the appropriate point (acupressure) it could help relieve pain.
There is also a concern with patients in rehabilitation programs. That need to exercise but are limited in mobility, noise tolerance etc.
For all of this reason I spent numerous hours to come up with an exercise ball that can provide with a gentle low impact workout to the upper body, lower body and abdomen. Help improve eye arm coordination and put pressure on the specific points of the hand to help sooth or relieve pain.
This new type of exercise has numerous advantages being a quiet, soft, gentle exercise able to be used in rehabilitation centres, senior homes or hospitals, if so desired or used in combination with other type of aerobic exercises in gyms.
The repetition of the movement also makes it suitable for meditation or relaxation.
It could also be use for recreational purposes in the toy industry, keeping the original way or replacing the ball for another form of toy like a car or motorcycle.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Orbit ball, is a transparent soft hollow ball with a special type of grip pad that we call Acu pad on two sides of the ball. With one or more heavier inner balls that could vary in sizes, weight, shapes and color. It also has an optional electronic counter that keeps track of the rotation of the inner ball. The exercise consists on trying to keep the inner ball (s) travelling. Following a path or orbit drawn on the outer ball to give visual guide of the center of gravity.
The angle in which ball is used is going to give different types of workouts.
The faster the ball travels the circumference the more force is caused to give a more intense workout burning more calories.
The orbit ball will be described with reference of the accompanying drawings in which.
Fig 1 is a front view of the ball 1 relates to the outer ball. The outer ball is made of a soft plastic that will inflate to different sizes depending of the desire intensity of the exercise.
It is clear so the person can see the trajectory of the inner ball. And try to keep it center or in an angle depending of the specific intensity of the exercise. The ball will have drawn the orbit. This will serve as a guide for the person doing the exercise.

2 the grip (Acu grip). One of the novelties of the invention is the grip pad.
The grip pad is molded on the sides of the outer ball. It has nibs covering the entire surface of the pad design to apply pressure on the different points of the hand as described in the techniques of the hand acupuncture. This way the grip has a double function one as a grip pad and the other helping stimulate the pressure points of the hand as an acupuncture techniques.

3 inner ball is a solid rubber ball. It can vary in sizes, weight, or color.
It could also have more than one ball. The ball could be divided into two different colors like red and yellow so the person doing the exercise can try to get the visual effect of the color orange to measure the intensity of the workout.
The inner ball can be substituted by any other object like a toy car or motorcycle.

4 valve Counter. Noted this counter is optional. The counter will be adhered to the ball. There are some variations of counters. The orbit ball could have a counter that keep track of the number of rotation of the inner ball. It could also have a burned calories counter, it could be a timer.
The counter could be an impact sensor where it would measure every time the ball hit the sensor. or a motion sensor.
