With this invention, the users would simply extend their arms out for the on coming Motorists to Slow down, and for the Stops side of the glove, they would place their palm Up, to stop traffic. This glove adds additional safety to everyone who uses it.
Description
The purpose of this glove is to keep Ilaggers safer on the job, as I too, am a flagger in the construction field for almost two years. This glove will aid in the safety of flaggers who are trying to stop traffic from both sides, which is called a Two-way One-way procedure.
There have been far too many flaggers being struck or near misses by motorists that fail to stop, and some unfortunately have been fatal... One of the things that occur, when the flag-ger stops the traffic with the paddle, and then wants the traffic on the other side to stop by putting up the paddle to the other side havina placed their hand up to let the other side know to stay "stopped" as soon as their hands comes down slightly to deal with the other side, there are far too many motorists that" fail to stay stopped", and end up going through thus causing injury to the flagger and possibly others that are on the road. But with my idea, this way when the motorists see the stop sign in the palm of the hand they will stay" stopped" until it is time for them to be released, and thus preventing anyone from sustaining any kind of injury or loss of life on the job. There are several other demographics of society that could also benefit from this, such as Traffic Police, cyclists, pedestrians, etc.
Break-down of Drawings May22, 2008 Figure 1 is a top view of the glove, that depicts a "sports-like design strap glove," the Fluorescent Lime-yellow is then placed on top of the Silver reflective material which is about.3cm past the Lime-yellow which is approximetly lem in diameter and then sewn to the black flexible material, the same concept applies to the strap which is about 2cm in diameter. This glove is to be a snug fit, not loose.
Also, the simulation of the fingers is approximetly 1.5cm from the tip of the glove.
The strap of the glove for the left hand, should then be vectored to the left side of the hand, all are then sewn on with yellow tread approximetly .3cm from edge of the Lime-yellow fabric. This side of the glove is the "Slow down" side, by extending ones arm out directly in front of oneself, the motorists are more likely to proceed to "slow down" and eventually coming to a complete "stop" once presented with the "stop signal"
in the palm of the hand.
Figure 2 is a view of the "stop signal" in the palm of the glove. See figure 3.
Figure 3 is the break down of layers that make-up the "stop signal" in figure 2 which consists of five different layers, first the high gloss white piping is sewn around a 3" in diameter circle, then place 1 cm of polyester stuffing in between No.'s 5&6 of figure 3.
Glue or sew No.6 of figure 3, to No.5 with weather resistant fabric glue.
Place another 1 cm of polyester stuffing to the underside of the circle, then sew or glue to black flexible fabric, both can be done for better durability. Circle is approximetly .5cm from both sides of the palm, red-orange florescent half moon is approximetly 1 cm in height to give it, its depth perception for a better visual for the on coming motorists.
Material for the Glove can be made for all weather types, cool for summer and warm for cooler months, fabric can be either leather or suede for weather proofing.
Figure 4 is how the Lime-yellow and Silver Florescent fabric come together .3cm of the Silver fabric is over the Lime-yellow and then both are sewn to the black flexible fabric with yellow tread.
Figure 5 shows the finished "Stop Signal" palm up view. See figure 3 for more details.
End results would entail that figures 1 &2 be sewn together with black tread sewn throughout the entirety of the glove. The lining of the glove will be made of black lining that will then be sewn together and inserted into the glove and then be sewn in the same formation as the glove.
