Abstract
Pelvic Rock Chair (PRC) is a rehabilitative exercising chair for low back and pelvic/hip with specific mechanism of function representing an assembly of a moveable piece which is coupled to the top of the a telescoping shaft at one end and at the other end it is connected to the a base of the chair. The seat that is coupled to the top section of the shaft is designed ergonomically for one to be able to hyperextend, hyper flexed, lateral flexion, and rotation of the spinal segments at low back and pelvic while seated. Pelvic Rock Chair is a rehabilitative exercise device which can be used for stretching, strengthening of the myofascial component of the low back and pelvic. PRC is also used for range of motion exercises of the low back and pelvic and for discotherapy.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION-FIELD OF INVENTION
This invention generally relates to a device assembled to form a chair which is used for a broad ranges of back, low back, pelvic/hip and abdominal ranges of motion, stretch and strengthening exercises.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION-PRIOR ART
As a Doctor of chiropractic, I have been treating patients with significant back pain. I have been treating pregnant patients with back pain. Most of the pain these people and most population go through is related to the lack of proper function of biomechanics of lumbar, lumbosacral spine and pelvic/hip regions of human anatomy. The present device can be used to train people in modeling/fashion in order to accelerate and facilitate the motions of the model at low back and hip.
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION-OBJECTS AND ADVANTAGES
This device is designed for lumbar/pelvic range of motion, stretching, and strengthening exercises which helps strengthening of the low back and pelvic/hip muscles and promotes the ability to maintain the balance and improve the stability of the biomechanics of lumbar, lumbosacral and pelvic anatomy of human body. It helps to prevent low back pain in almost every individual who is capable of performing the low back and pelvic/hip ranges of motion. PRC helps reducing the low back pain in people/patients with low back pain knowing that the 3 12/11/2007 1:45:39 AM
causes of back pain are significantly related to biomechanics changes of myofascial, discogenic, and articular joints. The present device helps pregnant women significantly to prevent, block and eliminate the low back pain. The present device can be used to train individuals especially fashion models to improve their style in walking/standing and balance.
DESCRIPTIONS/SPECIFICATIONS SUMMARY
In accordance with the present invention, a Pelvic Rock Chair (PRC) comprises of an assembly providing significant attempt aiming at prevention and/or reduction of low back and pelvic/hip pain. PRC is made up of a chair like base and a rotating seat to accommodate movements in 3 different planes at the same time (Planes XY horizontal, XZ and YZ vertical), for up to 45 or more without jeopardizing safety.
The power for the movements is provided by the seating person, whose feet are on the ground while he moves his pelvic in all directions. The ergonomically device is designed for multi-shift use (24 hours), suitable for persons up to Lbs in weight.
The device consists of a base (1), resting on the ground, a vertical support column assembly (2), firmly attached to the centre of the base and a seat assembly (3) which in turn is attached to the vertical support column.
The vertical support column assembly contains pneumatic sub-assembly, therefore permitting vertical collapse relative to the seating patient/person weight.
In addition, it has a lever, permitting height adjustments of the seat height relative to ground level.
The seat assembly consists of a spherical seat (3, 7, 8, 9 & 10) and a rotating mechanism (6).
The seat (7) is made up of 2 components having a spherical shape. The inner component (8) is made of soft foam and the outer component (9) is made of harder foam, on which the patient/person sits. The outer component (9) is also covered with a thin layer (10) made of anti-bacterial vinyl material (easy to clean), stain and fungal resistant. The seat assembly is covered by a skirt like material (11) for safety from moving components.
The seat base is attached to springs (12) which are tensed or compressed, depending of the motion of the patient/person sitting and activating the seat assembly. When the patient/person gets off the seat, these springs bring the seat assembly to its neutral horizontal position (plane XY).
The patient/person arms, while rocking his/hers pelvic, may rest on arm rests (13), which in turn can be assembled in any one of 2 different locations of the device: (location A at the vertical column, location B at the seat).
BRIF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The device consists of a base (1), resting on the ground, a vertical support column assembly (2), firmly attached to the centre of the base and a seat 4 12/11/2007 1:45:39 AM
assembly (3) which in turn is nested in a semi spherical nest (5), firmly attached to the vertical support column.
The vertical support column assembly contains pneumatic sub-assembly, therefore permitting vertical collapse relative to the seating patient/person weight.
In addition, it has a lever, permitting height adjustments of the seat height relative to ground level.
The seat assembly consists of a spherical seat (3, 7, 8, 9 & 10) and rotating mechanism balls (11).
The inner component of the seat (8) is made of soft foam and the outer component (9) is made of harder foam, on which the patient/person sits. The outer component (9) is also covered with a thin layer (10) made of anti-bacterial vinyl material (easy to clean), stain and fungal resistant. The seat assembly is covered by a skirt like material (12) for safety from moving components.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION-PREFERRED EMBODIMENT-FIGS.-This device is made for general population especially for those who suffer from back pain caused by improper articular joint function, myofascial tightness, and disc involvement at low back. It helps to maintain and improve balance reduce low back lordosis, strengthening muscles and balancing the lower back and pelvic of the patient/person. It is made up of a chair like base and a rotating seat to accommodate movements in 3 different planes at the same time (Planes XY
