Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for preparing a building material comprising mixing an aggregate material, water and a hydraulic binder material, and one or more hydraulic activators, and allowing the building material to harden, wherein the hydraulic binder material consists of slag material.

Claims (25)

1. Method for preparing a building material comprising mixing an aggregate material, water and a hydraulic binder material, and one or more hydraulic activators, and allowing the building material to harden, wherein the hydraulic binder material consists of slag material.
2. Method according to claim 1, wherein the slag material is ground to a specific area of approximately 3000-5000 cm2/g, preferably approximately 3500 cm2/g.
3. Method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein in the slag material used the ratio CaO/Si02 ranges from 0.25-2Ø
4. Method according to any of the claims 1-3, wherein the ratio Al2O3/SiO2 ranges from 0.1-0.6.
5. Method according to any of the claims 1-4, wherein the slag material is ground granulated blast furnace slag.
6. Method according to claim 5, wherein the slag material is an amorphous ground granulated blast furnace slag material.
7. Method according to any of the claims 1-6, wherein the activators are alkaline activators.
8. Method according to claim 7, wherein the activators comprise alkali metals and/or solutions thereof.
9. Method according to claim 8, wherein the activators comprise hydroxides, silicates and/or carbonates of the alkali metals and/or solutions thereof.
10. Method according claim 7, 8, or 9, wherein the activators comprise a mixture of sodium hydroxide, waterglass and/or sodium metasilicate.
11. Method according any of the claims 1-10, further comprising one or more additives to the mixture before or during mixing.
12. Method according to claim 11, wherein the additive comprises bivalent iron.
13. Method according to claim 12, wherein the additive comprises potassium dichromate.
14. Building material obtainable by the method according to any of the claims 1-13.
15. Binder composition for preparing a building material, consisting of a slag material and one or more hydraulic activators.
16. Binder composition according to claim 15, wherein the slag material is ground to a specific area of approximately 3000-5000 cm2/g, preferably approximately 3500 cm2/g.
17. Binder composition according to claim 15 or 16, wherein the slag material consists of neutral or alkaline slags.
18. Binder composition according to claim 15, 16 or 17, wherein in the slag material used the ratio CaO/SiO2 ranges from 0.25-2Ø
19. Binder composition according to any of the claims 15-18, wherein the ratio Al2O3/SiO2 ranges from 0.1-0.6.
20. Binder composition according to any of the claims 15-19, wherein the slag material is ground granulated blast furnace slag.
21. Binder composition according to claim 20, wherein the slag material is an amorphous ground granulated blast furnace slag material.
22. Binder composition according to any of the claims 15-21, wherein the activators are alkaline activators.
23. Binder composition according to claim 22, wherein the activators comprise alkali metals and/or solutions thereof.
24 24. Binder composition according to claim 23, wherein the activators comprise hydroxides, silicates and/or carbonates of the alkali metals and/or solutions thereof.
25. Binder composition according to claims 22, 23 or 24, wherein the activators comprise a mixture of sodium hydroxide, waterglass and/or sodium metasilicate.
