Abstract
In regards to a typical camping cooler, is made of a plastic, or plastic like material of a thickness approximately 4 centimeters centered with insulating material.
Typically with handles on each end and a lid which opens and closes for access to a compartment of approximately 3 cubic feet. Used to keep foodstuffs cold with the addition of ice for a period of time. In this invention, super bright light emitting diodes (LED) are triggered to turn on when the lid is opened allowing the user to see clearly the contents of the camping cooler, especially at night time or in dark places.

Description
Specification This invention relates to a typical camping cooler. Camping coolers are often used to keep various foodstuff and beverages cold with the addition of ice. Often camping coolers are used at night where it is difficult to see the contents of the cooler, or to pick out one item over another. Even if the user uses a flashlight, it is awkward to manage the contents of the coolers and pick out a specific item when one hand is dedicated to aiming the light. I have found that these problems can be overcome by the addition of a self sustainable source of light that turns on when the lid of the cooler is opened clearly illuminating the contents allowing the user to view, and pick out a desired item with both hands.
The inventive idea is to outfit a typical camping cooler with carefully aimed super bright Light Emitting Diodes (LED) that will be triggered to turn on by a switch when the lid is opened and triggered to turn off when the lid is closed. These LEDs will be powered by batteries and the batteries will recharge via a solar panel, which is mounted to the top of the lid, when in bright light.
Below are drawings which illustrate the function of the solar light camping cooler.
Figure 1 shows a typical camping cooler with the lid in the closed position, figure 2 shows the same but with the lid in the open position. Figure 3 shows a simple electrical circuit and components needed to provide the illumination.
In figure 1, 1 is the cooler. 4 is the closed lid of the cooler. 2 is the solar panel which supplies electrical charge when in bright light to the batteries. 3 is a position switch, which tums on the electrical circuit when the lid is in the open position.
In figure 2, 2 is the cooler. 1 is the lid in the open position. 3 is a position switch, which turns on the super bright light emitting diodes. 5 is the connecting wires, which are inside the cooler material. 4 is the LEDs. 7 is the batteries located inside the lid material. 6 is the backside of the solar panel.
Figure 3 shows a simple wiring diagram and components. 1 is the solar panel, which collects light energy and supplies a charge to the batteries 3. 2 is the connecting wiring. 4 is the position switch which will close the electrical circuit when the cooler lid is opened turning on the LEDs 5 and illuminating the contents of the cooler.

Claims (2)
1. Illumination of the contents when lid is in the open position allowing the user to see clearly the items inside.
2. The work described in claim # 1 is supported by an electrical storage device (batteries) which are recharged when in bright light via a solar panel.
