Description
ADJUSTABLE FRAME STRUCTURE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a frame structure and more particularly, relates to a frame structure for a mobile unit that can be used for displays and the like.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Numerous types of display stands are known from the prior art with some being free standing while others are moveable. Such display stands have been known to be adjustable to receive differently sized shelves or the like.
There still remains a need for different types of frame structures which permit the adjustment in width of the stand.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a display stand having an X-configurated frame and which can be readily adjusted by means of braces which can be secured at different locations on a pair of vertical uprights.

Figure 1 is an exploded view of a display stand according to one embodiment of the present invention;
Figure 2 is an exploded view illustrating placement of top and bottom members;
Figure 3 is an exploded view of the locking and securing mechanism;
Figure 4 is a perspective view of the top member; and Figure 5 is a sectional view thereof.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Referring to the drawings in greater detail and by reference characters thereto, there is illustrated an adjustable frame structure which is generally designated by reference numeral 10.
Adjustable frame structure 10 includes a pair of base members 12 and 14, each of which have wheels 16 at the bottom outer extremities thereo~
Extending upwardly from base members 12 and 14 are vertical uprights 18 and 20 respectively. As each is substantially identical, only one will be described herein.
Upright 20 has an interior wall 22 with pre-measured apertures 24 extending therethrough. Apertures 24 are spaced apart by desired intervals to permit adjustment of the adjustable frame as will become evident hereinbelow.
Extending between uprights 18 and 20 are a pair of pivot braces 26 and 28 arranged in an X configuration and being secured at pivot member 30. Pivot member 30 may comprise a rivet-type structure or alternatively, may comprise a pin member or nut and bolt arrangement.
Each pivot brace 26, 28 is secured at either extremity to uprights 18, 20 with only one connection being described herein.
As may be seen in Figure 3, there is provided a sliding plate 34 having slider 36 on the rear thereof. A commercially available spring biased plunger 38 is provided for extending through aperture 30 in sliding plate 34 with a rear receptacle 40 being provided.
A mounting member 42 has a projection 44 designed to engage with aperture 46 in sliding plate 34. Mounting member 42 also has an aperture 50 located therein and which is designed to connect to an extremity of one of pivot braces 26, 28 by means of a pivot
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a frame structure and more particularly, relates to a frame structure for a mobile unit that can be used for displays and the like.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Numerous types of display stands are known from the prior art with some being free standing while others are moveable. Such display stands have been known to be adjustable to receive differently sized shelves or the like.
There still remains a need for different types of frame structures which permit the adjustment in width of the stand.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
According to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a display stand having an X-configurated frame and which can be readily adjusted by means of braces which can be secured at different locations on a pair of vertical uprights.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Referring to the drawings in greater detail and by reference characters thereto, there is illustrated an adjustable frame structure which is generally designated by reference numeral 10.
Adjustable frame structure 10 includes a pair of base members 12 and 14, each of which have wheels 16 at the bottom outer extremities thereo~
Extending upwardly from base members 12 and 14 are vertical uprights 18 and 20 respectively. As each is substantially identical, only one will be described herein.
Upright 20 has an interior wall 22 with pre-measured apertures 24 extending therethrough. Apertures 24 are spaced apart by desired intervals to permit adjustment of the adjustable frame as will become evident hereinbelow.
Extending between uprights 18 and 20 are a pair of pivot braces 26 and 28 arranged in an X configuration and being secured at pivot member 30. Pivot member 30 may comprise a rivet-type structure or alternatively, may comprise a pin member or nut and bolt arrangement.
Each pivot brace 26, 28 is secured at either extremity to uprights 18, 20 with only one connection being described herein.
As may be seen in Figure 3, there is provided a sliding plate 34 having slider 36 on the rear thereof. A commercially available spring biased plunger 38 is provided for extending through aperture 30 in sliding plate 34 with a rear receptacle 40 being provided.
A mounting member 42 has a projection 44 designed to engage with aperture 46 in sliding plate 34. Mounting member 42 also has an aperture 50 located therein and which is designed to connect to an extremity of one of pivot braces 26, 28 by means of a pivot
-2-member 48 which may be of any suitable design.
As shown in Figure 2, a top transverse member 52 is provided to seat on and between uprights 18, 20 as well as a bottom transverse member 54.
Evenly above arrangement, pivot braces 26, 28 may be suitably adjusted and secured in position. One is given the capability of adjusting either the tops of the pivot braces 26, 28, the bottoms, or both if desired.
It will be understood that the above described embodiment is for purposes of illustration only and that changes and modifications may be made thereto without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
As shown in Figure 2, a top transverse member 52 is provided to seat on and between uprights 18, 20 as well as a bottom transverse member 54.
Evenly above arrangement, pivot braces 26, 28 may be suitably adjusted and secured in position. One is given the capability of adjusting either the tops of the pivot braces 26, 28, the bottoms, or both if desired.
It will be understood that the above described embodiment is for purposes of illustration only and that changes and modifications may be made thereto without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
