A METHOD OF MEASURING THE TALKING TIME LENGTH
OF MOBILE TERMINAL IN CDMA SYSTEM
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a method for measuring the talking time length of a mobile terminal, and specifically, it relates to a method for measuring the talking time length of a CDMA-based mobile terminal (Code Division Multiple Access) in the field of cellular mobile communication.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
With the development of mobile communication technology, especially with the fast development of CDMA technology in the field of cellular mobile communication technology, it brings people a lot of convenience-and economic benefit, and it gets the number of CDMA subscribers of China Unicorn keeping increasing fast, but at the same time, a lot of problems about CDMA-based terminals become more significant, especially the problem reported by terminal subscribers that the talking time length of CDMA terminal is shorter compared with others. After research, it is confirmed by experts that the cause of shorter talking time length is due to the higher power consumption of some CDMA terminals. To solve the problem of talking time length, the problem that the power consumption of the terminal is too high must be tackled firstly, so as to propose a solution for optimizing the network and improving the terminals. A key step to solve this problem, that is, the power consumption of the terminal is too high, is to get a description parameter used to evaluate the talking time length of CDMA-based terminals in the network environment, then give out an accurate and feasible method for measuring this parameter in industry, thereby providing a way of measuring, verifying and evaluating for solving the problem that the terminal consumes too much power.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Being directed at the shortcomings of prior art, the present invention brings forward a method for measuring the talking time length of a CDMA-based mobile terminal, to get the talking time length parameter for describing the power consumption time length of the mobile terminal and to provide a way of measuring, verifying, evaluating, and authenticating for solving the problem that the terminal consumes too much power consumption.
To achieve above aim, the present invention provides a method for measuring the talking time length of a CDMA-based mobile terminal, it includes following steps:
step 1, establishing the testing environment for the terminal to be measured;
step 2, measuring, in the testing environment, the average talking current 'Normal of the terminal to be measured and the capacity C of battery of the terminal to be measured in talking period; and step 3, calculating, according to the parameters concluded in step 2, the talking time length 'Normal 3 wherein TNormal = =
'Normal The present invention provides the method for measuring the talking time length of the CDMA-based mobile terminal, through measuring the talking current of the mobile terminal within limited period in the imitated network environment, the talking time length parameter used to describe the power consumption time length of mobile terminal is obtained, and a way of measuring, verifying, evaluating, and authenticating for solving the problem that the terminal consumes too much power is provided, and said method has low requirement for environmental, it is easy in testing and implementing.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS
The detailed description of each of preferred embodiments of the present invention will be given hereafter.
The present invention is a method for measuring the talking time length of a CDMA-based mobile terminal, the basic idea of this method is to treat the terminal to be measured as a black box, that is, the detailed operation process inside the terminal to be measured is not considered. Then the testing environment of the terminal to be measured is established, including the mounting position of the measurement system, etc. In said method, the RF port of the terminal to be measured (that is, terminal Connector port or antenna port) is connected to one end of a low power consumption RF cable of which power consumption has been known, the other end of this low power consumption RF cable of which power consumption has been known is connected with a CDMA-based network simulator (that is, a base station simulator or a CDMA- based terminal universal tester), to establish the CDMA-based communication link, which is shown in Figure 1. Through configuring and testing the terminal operation mode, as well as defining a certain level of voice service traffic, the talking time length of the terminal to be measured can be measured out in this environment.
Wherein, to make the talking time length of the terminal to be measured in this testing condition close to that in normal use condition as much as possible, the power consumption of the RF cable used here is as low as possible, on the other hand, to ensure the comparability for all of the terminals to be measured, the power consumptions of the RF cables used by the terminals to be measured should be as same as possible, therefore, the power consumption of RF cable used here has been known in present invention, in this way, the RF cables with the same power consumption could be selected to test other mobile terminals.
A method for measuring the talking time length of a CDMA-based mobile terminal, the flow of this method is shown in Figure 2, step 1, establishing the testing environment for the terminal to be measured, the establishment process is shown in Figure 3;
step 2, measuring, in the testing environment, the average talking current Normal of the terminal to be measured and the capacity C of the battery of the terminal during talking period, the measuring process is shown in Figures 4, 5; and step 3, calculating, based on each parameter concluded in step 2, the talking time length 'Normal , wherein, TNormal = ' Norma!
With reference to Figure 3, it is the establishment process of the testing environment for the terminal to be measured, including steps hereinafter:
step 100, putting the terminal to be measured and the network simulator in an environment which is electromagnetically shielded from outside electromagnetic wave, this step can provide the measurement with a pure electromagnetic environment, and in this embodiment, the environment is an electromagnetic wave shielded chamber with a space of 3m*3m*2.7m.
step 101, putting the terminal to be measured on a testing platform, the testing platform herein should be a support platform for the measuring of the terminal to be measured, thereby, this testing platform should not influence the measuring of the terminal to be measured, wherein, one important issue is that it should not cause too much loss to the electromagnetic signal between the network simulator and the terminal to be measured, therefore, this testing platform should be one made from low electromagnetic loss materials, or, a supporting platform used to support a testing equipment (such as the network simulator, the terminal to be measured and the RF
cable) is made from low electromagnetic loss materials, such as, wood or organic glass;
step 102, connecting the RF port of the terminal to be measured with one end of the low power consumption RF cable of which the power consumption has been known, the other end of the low power consumption RF cable being connected with the CDMA based network simulator, the connection state is shown in Figure 1, and a high frequency choke coil is configured outside this low power consumption RF cable, which is used to avoid the loss of the electromagnetic signal transmitted inside the cable, and in this embodiment, the length of the low power consumption RF cable is about 0.5m.
To reduce the impact of power consumption from other configurations of the mobile terminal during talking, there is a need to set the power consumption of other power consuming functions to the lowest level; then the following steps can further be included:
step 103, setting the voice service as fixed voice service with defined traffic;
step 104, setting the backlight of the terminal to be measured in close mode, or in the darkest mode;
step 105, setting terminal to be measured in talking mode, if it is a flip terminal, then opening the flip to the maximum position; and moreover, the performance criterion of the network simulator should meet the corresponding testing criterion, that is, the performance criterion of the network simulator should meet the communication protocol of the CDMA technology, such as, /or setting, Pilot setting, Traffic --L.

With reference to Figure 4, it is the flow chart of measuring the average talking current Normal of the terminal to be measured. It includes steps hereinafter:
step 200, using dummy battery, powering the terminal to be measured with a power supply of 3.80V, in the loop of power supply circuit, setting an ammeter in series, which internal resistant is 0-10 ohm and the output is a curve that the current changes with time;
step 201, setting the terminal to be measured in talking mode, and keeping ATNormal hours;
step 202, calculating, based on the measured current, the average talking current 'Normal mA within ATNormal period;
wherein, a suggested value of the A TNormal is 0.25 hour.
With reference to Figure 5, it is the flow chart of measuring the capacity C of the battery of the terminal within talking period.
Step 300, measuring the power off voltage Vt of the terminal to be measured;
step 301, discharging the battery of the terminal with rated capacity at a consistent current 4,,,,orõ,,õ until reaching the power off voltage Vt, and recording the discharging time TA

step 302, calculating the total discharging capacity C of the battery, C= /0,NormaiTo,Normal wherein, the unit of Vt is V;

Wherein, the measuring steps for the power off voltage V, of the terminal to be measured are as below:
step 310, employing dummy battery for the terminal to be measured, and adjusting the voltage of the power supply used by the dummy battery to 3.50V;
step 311, setting terminal to be measured to talking state;
step 312, dropping the power supply voltage of the dummy battery used by the terminal to be measured by 0.01V, and waiting 2 minutes; repeating this step with the defined voltage drop value and waiting time, until the terminal to be measured powers off automatically due to the too low power supply voltage of the dummy battery; and step 313, recording the automatic power off voltage V.
In this embodiment, the battery employed is the standard battery of the terminal to be measured, the usage period of this battery should be within six months. Before the measuring steps shown in Figure 5, the following treatments should be conducted for the battery of the terminal:
step 400, charging the standard battery using the standard charger of the terminal to be measured sufficiently;
step 401, mounting the sufficiently charged standard battery on a battery tester, discharging the battery at a current of 0.5 time of the total capacity of battery sufficiently, for example, if the total capacity of battery is 400 mAh, the discharging current is 200 mA; and step 402, charging the battery of the terminal to be measured using the standard charger of the terminal to be measured sufficiently one more time.
By such treatments, the battery of the terminal can guarantee that the capacity of the battery of the terminal is the rated capacity during the measuring shown in Figure 5, and it guarantees the accuracy of the measured result.
Taking the measuring of a certain flip CDMA mobile phone as an example:
before measuring, the following treatments are conducted to the standard battery of this flip CDMA mobile phone: charging the standard battery using the standard charger of this mobile phone sufficiently; then mounting the sufficiently charged standard battery on the battery tester, and discharging the battery at a current of 0.5 time of the total capacity of the battery sufficiently, for example, if the total capacity of battery is 400 mAh, the discharging current is 200 mA; and after that, charging the standard battery using the standard charger of this mobile phone sufficiently one more time.
Putting a testing platform made of wood in a electromagnetic shielded chamber with a space by 3m*3m*2.7m, this testing platform is used to support the measuring equipments, getting a CDMA-based network simulator, and a low power consumption RF cable of which power consumption has been known and the length thereof is about 0.5 meter, one end of this RF cable is connected with the RF port of the CDMA mobile phone, the other end thereof is connected with the network simulator, after the connection is finished, measure the power off voltage Vt of this mobile phone, and the step is as below: adjusting the power supply voltage of the dummy battery to 3.50 V firstly; then setting the mobile phone in talking state; dropping the power supply voltage used by the dummy battery by 0.01 V manually, then waiting 2 minutes; repeating this step with such dropping voltage and waiting time, until the terminal to be measured powers off automatically due to the too low power supply voltage of the dummy battery;
and recording the automatic power off voltage V.
After measuring the power off voltage, using the dummy battery to power the mobile phone at a voltage of 3.80V, in the loop of power supply circuit, putting an ammeter in series, which internal resistor is 0-10 ohm and the output is a curve that the current changes with time;
setting the mobile phone in talking state, and keeping AT,õ,a, hour;
calculating, based on the current value read from the ammeter, the average talking current 1 Normal mA within the ATNorma, period;

Claims (12)

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclusive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows:
1. A method for measuring a talking time length of a CDMA-based mobile terminal, comprising:
establishing a testing environment for the terminal;
measuring, in the testing environment, an average talking current ~ Normal of the terminal, and the capacity C of a battery of the terminal during a talking period; and calculating, based on the average talking current ~ Normal and the capacity C, the talking time length
2. The method of claim 1, wherein measuring the average talking current ~
Normal of the terminal comprises:
using a dummy battery connected with an ammeter as a power supply of the terminal, the ammeter outputting the relationship between current and time;
setting the terminal in a talking state for .DELTA.T Normal hours; and calculating, based on a measured current, the average talking current ~ Normal within the .DELTA.T Normal period.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein measuring the capacity C during the talking period comprises:
measuring a power off voltage V t of the terminal;
discharging the battery of the terminal with a rated capacity at a consistent current I 0,Normal till reaching the power off voltage V t, and recording a discharging time T 0,Normal;
and calculating the capacity C of the battery as C = I 0,Normal T 0,Normal wherein, the unit of V t is V;
the unit of I 0,Normal is mA;

4. The method of claim 3, wherein measuring a power off voltage of the terminal comprises:
employing a dummy battery to power the terminal, and setting the voltage of power supply;
setting the terminal in a talking state; and repeating a step of dropping the voltage of the terminal to be measured by a defined value and waiting for a defined time, until the terminal powers off automatically due to too low voltage, and recording the voltage value as the power off voltage V.
5. The method of claim 3, wherein measuring the power off voltage of the terminal comprises:
charging the battery of the terminal using a standard charger of the terminal to be measured;
discharging the charged terminal battery on a battery tester; and charging the discharged terminal battery.
6. The method of claim 5, wherein the charged terminal battery is discharged on the battery tester at a discharging current of 0.5 times the total capacity of the battery per hour.
7. The method of any one of claims 3 to 6, wherein said terminal battery is an eligible rechargeable battery with a usage period within six months.
8. The method of claim 1, wherein establishing the testing environment of the terminal comprises:
putting the terminal and a CDMA-based network simulator in an environment which is electromagnetically shielded from outside electromagnetic waves;
putting the terminal on a testing platform;
connecting an RF port of the terminal with the CDMA-based network simulator through an RF cable of which the power consumption is known; and setting the terminal in talking mode.
9. The method of claim 8, wherein a high frequency choke coil is configured to said RF cable.
10. The method of claim 8, wherein said terminal is a flip terminal, and the flip terminal is opened to a maximum position.
11. The method of claim 8, wherein a backlight of the terminal is set in close mode or in a darkest mode.
12. The method of claim 8, wherein a voice service of the terminal is configured as fixed voice service with defined traffic.
