Abstract
The present invention is concerned with providing a scaffold mounted electrical power distribution panel. This invention comprises of a purpose built electrical distribution panel, umbilical connector, standard electrical outlet receptacles, breakers, carry handle, and scaffold clamps. The clamps are attached to the electrical distribution panel at a distance equal to the spacing of the horizontal distance between scaffold members. The clamps are attached by means of a bolt and locknut to a mounting bracket built in to the back of the distribution panel. The lower mounting bracket has a slotted clearance hole that allows a bolt to pass through the mounting plate and through the attachment plate of the scaffold clamp.
This configuration holds the clamp to the distribution panel. A locknut is used on the bolt to provide a method of holding the clamp to mounting bracket, but also allows the clamp to move freely back and forth within the slot. This provides adjustment capability if horizontal scaffold members are out of the specified range. The distribution panel is used primarily in general purpose and harsh environments to connect electrical components, tools and worksite accessories. Another aspect of this invention is that it forms a satellite power panel by running one umbilical to the incoming receptacle from a main distribution center. Another aspect of the invention is the tube half clamp, which provides for quick assembly, and a proven method of attachment.

Claims (8)
1. Manually installed for quick attachment to scaffolding systems, the scaffold mounted electrical distribution panel comprising of an electrical distribution box complete with breakers and receptacles is clamped to horizontal scaffold members. The distribution panel is tethered to the scaffolding system with a lanyard. The lanyard is equipped with a snap hook for quick hook-up.
2. An electrical distribution panel defined in claim 1 that has a main body with mounting brackets connected to scaffold clamps as an attachment apparatus.
3. An electrical distribution panel defined in claim 2 that can be mounted at multiple positions along the platform elevation of a scaffold system and provide electrical power for that work area.
4. An electrical distribution panel defined in claim 3 that is mounted to a scaffold system with a scaffold clamp as described in claim 2 that can be affixed by construction personnel with the use of a hammer. The hammer is used to drive the wedge of the scaffold clamp to a sufficient depth for appropriate clamping force.
5. An electrical distribution panel defined in claim 4 that can be easily carried by personnel from worksite to worksite by means of a carry handle.
6. An electrical distribution panel defined in claim 5 that can be configured for different environmental conditions such as but not limited to general purpose or rain tight conditions.
7. An electrical distribution panel defined in claim 6 that can be configured for diversified voltages.
8. An electrical distribution panel defined in claim 7 that is configured to receive an umbilical power cord from a main distribution center and energize externally mounted standard receptacles that are fused through a series of breakers.
