Abstract

This invention relates to roof and floor truss manufacturing.

During the manufacturing of roof and floor systems, steel gang-nail plates are hydraulically pressed into lumber to cause the web and chord members to be joined together creating a structural truss. This invention relates to the removal of the gang-nail plates from the wood members.

Claims (3)

1. A manually operable tool for removal of gang-nail plates from floor and/or roof truss lumber members, consisting of a lower notched chisel jaw with slots to allow upper grab teeth to protrude down through slots of gang-nail plates, lower notched chisel jaw is attached to a handle which holds a pressure lever which is attached to upper grab teeth and at the bottom of handle, behind lower notched chisel jaw is a cam lift.
2. A tool defined in Claim 1 for removal of gang-nail plates from truss lumber members in which the tool is placed with cam lift aligning lower notched chisel jaw to be forced under gang-nail plate by force of a hammer striking end of handle manually and allowing lever handle to be closed which inserts upper grab teeth through gang-nail plate and with leverage from handle, removing gang-nail plate from truss member.
3. A tool defined in Claim 1 and Claim 2 wherein once the gang-nail plate has been removed from the lumber member, lever handle is lifted causing notched chisel jaws and upper grab teeth to open for removal of gang-nail plate.
