Abstract

The invention presented in this document is a portable windshield cleaning apparatus, comprised of a manually pressurized container, a clear hose, a handgrip preferably but not necessarily extendible, a rubber blade and a soft brush, providing fresh cleaning fluid at all times to clean the windshield of debris.

The portable container is equipped with a secured lid and carry handle, which works as a manual pump to pressurize the liquid contents of the container.
Attached to the container is a translucent hose, which is connected to a foam grip handle containing a trigger control and spray nozzle to dispense cleaning fluid. The end of the handle is equipped with a soft brush on one side and a rubber blade on the opposite side.

This new apparatus is unique. It is simple, easy to use and convenient.

Description

Patent Application Of Timothy Olner For a Portable Self-Contained Windshield Cleaning Apparatus Field of Invention:

The present invention relates to the field of automotive accessories and is particularly interested with an apparatus for conveniently and efficiently removing dirt and other materials from the windshield, lenses, placards and gauges and lights from all vehicles.

Background of Invention:

The conventional means of cleaning windshields, lights, gauges, placards and lenses, is usually with a squeegee and a bucket filled with cleaning fluid provided by gas stations. Most of the time this proves to be not only impractical, but also very inconvenient.

At stations, the squeegee and the cleaning fluid is used and dirty. Sometimes, it is non-existent! When the bucket, fluid and squeegee are present, the user of these products is often reapplying dirty cleaning fluid to their windshields, thus obscuring their line of vision.

This is especially relevant in the transport industry where safety is a real concern and placards displaying dangerous goods have to visible at all times. Pipeline fed diesel stations are common and sometimes the necessary tools for cleaning are non-existent or saturated in diesel. This creates potential safety hazards.

This unique portable self-contained, manually pressurized cleaning apparatus allows the user to have access to clean fresh fluid and cleaning accessories at the touch of a button, and allows for more visibility on the road, to see and be seen! It is portable, lightweight, easy to use and accessible at all times.

Patent Application Of Timothy Olner For a Portable Self-Contained Windshield Cleaning Apparatus DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:

In the drawings which form part of this specification, Fig. 1 represents a one-dimensional view of a portable self-contained windshield cleaning apparatus as it appears when fully assembled and ready to use.

In the embodiment of the invention illustrated, a portable self-contained windshield cleaning apparatus comprises of 1 plastic translucent receptacle with a maximum holding capacity of four liters, having an attached fill funnel 2 as part of the mechanics of the receptacle. A pump mechanism 3 which threads into the receptacle and a pump handle 4 with attached pump mechanism is used to create manual air pressure when depressed. A
clear 3/8 inch flex hose 5 is located inside the receptacle to push fluid to outlet nipple 15 when pressurized. Threaded hose adapter 6 connects flex hose 5 to outlet nipple 15. A
clear '/a inch flex hose 7 measuring five feet long, connects to hose adapter 6, and completing connection at hose adapter 8 located at end of handgrip. A small 3/8 inch hose 16 runs from end of handgrip 9 to trigger mechanism 11. The handgrip 9 is constructed of durable plastic with foam grip. '/4 inch inner flex hose 10 runs through length of handgrip 9 from trigger mechanism 11 to spray nozzle 12. A trigger mechanism 11 made of plastic is used to dispense fluid when depressed manually and is located near the end of the handgrip 9. Located at one end of the handgrip 9 is a soft brush head 13 and secured to the handgrip 9. Secured opposite side of soft brush head 13 is a rubber blade 14 used for scraping.

Claims (10)

1. A portable apparatus for windshield cleaning comprising: a receptacle to contain fluid and a lid connected to the receptacle and said receptacle having a handle integral with the upper part of the receptacle, a locking member to seal the lid in relation to the receptacle. The said handle with attached inner pump mechanism is used in the process of manually pumping air into the receptacle to produce sealed air pressure; A clear hose attached to the receptacle to transport fluid through a shaft comprised of a handgrip, preferably but not necessarily extendible, said handgrip having finger trigger mechanism at one end and spray nozzle at other end to dispense fluid to end of handgrip; said handgrip consisting of a soft brush secured to one end of said handgrip and on the other side of handgrip a rubber blade is secured.
2. A portable apparatus for windshield cleaning as recited in claim 1 wherein:

either the lid or the handle having a sealing capacity surrounding the opening of the receptacle.
3. A portable apparatus for windshield cleaning as recited in claim 1 wherein:

The lid is equipped with a handle used to open or close the receptacle by turning.
Said handle also used to manually pump air into receptacle to maintain a sealed air pressure.

CLAIMS:
4. A portable apparatus for windshield cleaning as recited in claim 1 wherein:
the receptacle having an outlet hole located at the upper part of the receptacle to allow for 5 feet of' 1/4 inch clear hose to be inserted to dispense fluid from receptacle.
5. A portable apparatus for windshield cleaning as recited in claim 1 wherein:

the clear hose is connected from receptacle to a handgrip shaft, to allow for cleaning fluid to pass through said handgrip.
6. A portable apparatus for windshield cleaning as recited in claim 1 wherein:

said handgrip shaft is equipped with a trigger mechanism at hose end connection and a small spray nozzle located at the other end of handgrip.
7. A portable apparatus for windshield cleaning as recited in claim 1 wherein:

connected to end of hand grip a soft brush secured on one side and a rubber blade secured to opposite side. As recited in claim 6, handgrip with spray nozzle allows fluid to be directed onto brush.
8. A portable apparatus for windshield cleaning as recited in claim 1 wherein:

dispensing spray of fluid onto brush after use will clean brush.
9. A portable apparatus for windshield cleaning as recited in claim 1 wherein:

receptacle is spillproof when lid is sealed properly between use.
10. A portable apparatus for windshield cleaning with a method of operation wherein: a user opens the lid, fills the receptacle with cleaning fluid and seals the lid by turning in a clockwise direction. As the handle acts as a manual pump to produce sealed air pressure, the user pumps the handle until said handle will not depress further. User then locks the pump handle in place securing the handle for ease of carrying. Holding the handgrip, the user holds the receptacle by the handle and directs the spray nozzle at the area to be cleaned. The user depresses the trigger, which dispenses a flow of cleaning fluid, and the spray nozzle saturates the brush with cleaning fluid. The user passes the brush over the area to be cleaned and when complete, uses the rubber blade to remove any excess fluid from area being cleaned. When completed, the user can then use the spray nozzle to clean the brush head.
The apparatus always provides fresh clean fluid and the cleaning accessories will remain clean as well.
