Abstract
Flue design of a four sided, outdoor waste receptacle, with three sides containing panels for displaying information and one side with a lockable door. The display panels and removable waste container are accessible by unlocking and opening the door.
The roof is curved to shelter the waste and provide protection from weather.
The roof is curved to shelter the waste and provide protection from weather.
Description
FIELD OF 'THE INVENTION
This invention relates to waste receptacles designed to hold information display panels for the purpose of outdoor advertising.
BACKGROUND
It is common for outdoor advertising furniture to face vandalism which is lead to by visibly removable display panels or frames which are accessible from the outside of the advertising unit by being pried open. This usually leads to extensive maintenance resulting in high maintenance costs, which is undesirable. Therefore, it is desirable to have minimal moving parts and display panels or frames, which are accessible from the outside, to deter and reduce vandalism.
LIST OF DRAWING FIGURES
1n drawings which illustrate embodiments of the invention, Figure 1 is a three-dimensional view with display panels removed ti-om display frames.
Figure 2 is a top view with part 1,2, and 8 removed.
Figure 3 is an elevation view.
Figure 4 is an illustration of display panels with display frame only.
Figure 5 is a partial cross-sectional view to primarily illustrate method of installation of display panels to display frames.
Figure 6 is a partial cross-sectional view to illustrate locking method.
DESCRIPTION ~~TITH REFERENCE T'O DRI~W'ING FIGURES
I have found that these disadvantages may be overcome using my design. My design is created by permmently welding together four angle irons to create a. display frame (1 I ).
Then permanently welding lour such display frames to four legs (3). Then Permanently welding a lockable steel door (S) to one display frame (I I) connected together using steel hinges (7), which are permanently welded to said door (5) and said display frame ( 11 ).
To prevent unauthorized access e.g. prying open of door (5), a steel flat bar ( 17) is then permanently welded to the display frame (11) to closely surround the door's (_5) top.
right, and bottom sides. Then by installing through the door (5) opening, a display panel ( 14,15,16) in each of the three display frames ( 1 I ), which have no door attached.
display panel ( 14, I 5,16) is composed of a sheet of acrylic glass ( I 4) as the outer most layer, printed media (15) as the central layer, and a plywood sheet (16) as the inner most layer. Each display panel (14,15,16) consisting of said three layers, is then supported using two evenly spaced flat bars (9) which are secured horizontally to two opposite sides of each display frame (14,15,16) using a nut (lOB) which is threaded to a bolt (10A) which is welded to the inside of the display frame ( 11 ). The receptacle has four feet (4}.
Each foot (4) is a circular disc, which is permanently welded to the bottom of each leg (3). Each foot (4) has one hole to allow installation to concrete using an anchor bolt. Tile curved roof (1) is designed to shelter waste and permit rain and snow to run off. 'rhe lower edges of the roof (1 ) have a fiu~ction similar to that of a rain gutter on a building.
This roof (1) design redirects rain to run off of the edges of the roof (1) and down each of the legs (3) instead of onto the display panels (11). Three rods (8) on t~uo opposin~,~ sides of the roof ( 1 ) offer additional support for the roof ( 1 ) along with the legs (3 ) and act as ornamental. Inside the receptacle is a removable circular container (13) for the purpose of waste collection. which is accessible by unlocking and opening the door (5) only. This circular container (13) rests on three angle iron support bars (12), which are welded permanently to the bottoms of two opposing display frames (l l). The waste entrance (2 ) is square with a circular hole designed as the entrance for waste to fall into said circular container (13).
