Abstract
Transport Trucks Using a Trailer conveying goods cross country, Travel at speeds warranting streamlining of their structure & shape in order to save of fuel costs.
This invention is intended to further streamline the shape of the aft/rear end of the trailer.
Drag is created by the end if the trailer, the end of witch is closed with barn door type doors, these doors are very good for low cost construction & add strength to the structure when closed. But add nothing to the streamlining of the vehicle. This turbulent air (high way speeds) steal efficiency from the vehicle. This invention creates a curved streamline shape on the rear of the trailer, creating a much less draggy vehicle.
The dynamic shape is created by small air scoops at the top rear of the trailer doors.
These scoops use the ram air (effect of the forward motion of the truck) to fill fabric air bags (sewn to shape, to fill to a stream line form)

Description
This invention relates to a device attached to the rear of a transport truck trailer to reduce drag/save fuel All tractor trailers operating at highway speeds. Are typically constructed to aerodynamically pierce the air with a rounded frontal area. But nothing has been done to solve the poor dynamics of the rear of the trailer. This invention seeks to aerodynamically alter the aft/rear end of the trailer to realize savings in fuel for vehicle operators.
The air bags that create the aerodynamic shape are sewn to shape(an enclosed diaphragm)(see#3 page #1) & (see #1 page #3) . Attach points (grammets)(see #2 page #1) similar to banner signage are sew on the airbag at points that contact the trailer door edges, then bag attached to door by quick realease harware . The air bags are filled to size by air scoops (one for each bag)(see #2 page #2) & (# 1 page # 1 ) attached to the rear/top of the trailer doors. The air scoops are sewn/glued sealed in place to the airbag at the top most portion of the airbag. Small relief holes(see #1 page #2) are incoperated into the bottom of the bad to let water out & a flap(see #3 page #2) held closed by Velcro to let snow or debris out of bottom of bag if nessary. The air hag is shaped as to not interfere with the normal operation of the door. All handles & locking mechanisms (devices found on the trailer) are left as they were. The air scoops( see #2 page #2) extend up into the slipstream & capture ram air(from the forward motion of the truck) thus filling the air bags, witch have no other inlet or outlet other then the air scoops(water/relief holes small enouf as to not be a factor as far as an outlet). The airbags once filled to size create an aerodynamic shape(see #1 page #3). The forward velocity of the vehicle keeps constant pressure in the air bag area(see #2 page #3) & (see #4 page #2). With the vehicle stopped, no more ram oar enters from the scoops the air bags deflate under their own weight (see #1 page #4)(air escapes out the air scoops) & doors can be opened much as they normally would.
