Front access interlocking modular cell tray assembly (10) having a base (11) and a plurality of stacked cell trays (12) thereon, having battery cell receiving areas (45), and each cell tray having front (60) and rear (25) interlocking structure on the top and bottom to engage with complemental front and rear interlocking structure on the base (11) and individual stacked cell trays(12).
