Abstract
A "U" shaped steel foot is axially mounted on the wheel axle mounted on a picnic table leg for the purpose of ease of relocation by wheeling to another site. The steel foot freely pivots from a stored position to make contact with the ground. A push from the opposite side of the table induces the foot to rotate which action causes the wheel to be lifted free of the ground. A pull on the table from said opposite side will induce the foot to rotate and allow the wheel to make contact with the ground where said foot is placed by hand in the stored position and secured by a turn button or any spring loaded holding device.
Description
BA R T IN~~ TI
With present day wheeled picnic table designs, two Legs on the same side of the table are equipped with either single or double wheels with the axle going through a transverse hole at the lower extremities of the legs_ Because a wheel has an infinite point of contact; loading of the bench seat will cause the wheels to penetrate into the surface of the soil. Additionally loading will. cause bending moments on the wheel axels. It is the object of this invention to remove the occurrence of soil penetration caused by weight on the wheels.
It is a further object of this invention to remove all weight on the wheels save for transport or "Wheel Barrow"
S Y OF THE INVENTION
A "LT" shaped steel bracket which mounts over the narrow faces of a 2 x 4 picnic table leg and is mounted on an extension of the wheel axle, which is mounted in a thru hole in the table leg. 'The bracket is free to rotate from storage position to standing positicm. At storage position it held in place by a tum button or spring catch. In standing position, an extension of the bracket is equipped with a slot which engages a bolt shank mounted on the leg face and so positioned as to form a foot which is stopped in a position parallel to the table to:p or a slight variation adjustable to ground surface slope.

Claims (5)
1. A device which when mounted to a picnic table leg, "as in view A from figure 1", will allow freewheeling and solid foot mounting.
2. A device which when mounted, as in claim 1, presents the wheels and axels with only 50 percent of the empty table weight when rolling.
3. A device which, when mounted as in claim 1, does not impose bending loads on the axels when seating.
4. A device which, when mounted as in claim 1, requires no tooling to configure from seating to rolling eg: screwdriver, pliers or wrenches.
5. A device which when mounted as in claim 1, will, due to large contact surface area, prevent ground surface penetration.
