Abstract
The invention provides a special functional medicine bottle cap. It can actively sound to remind patient to take their medicine in time. It consists of an electronic control center, a cap position controlled switch and normal bottle cap base. A multi-shifts switch is shown on the top of the cap.
Moving one of the shifts on the mufti-shifts switch, a user can easily set the number of times the alarm is to sound in one day. Only unscrewed the cap from medicine bottle can stop the reminding sound.

Description
Smart Medicine Bottle Cap BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Many people need to take medicine, but they tend to forget to take their medication on time. Not taking medication on time can dramatically reduce the effectiveness of medicine and have bad effect on patient's health. There are many prior patents to medicine bottle or its parts. One patent that is relevant to be mentioned here is Canadian Patent 1316151, which use fixed markers to indicate dosage time, but it can not actively remind people to take their medication on time. The Smart Medicine Bottle Cap solves this problem. It can sound to remind user to take their medicine on time according to the dosage times described on prescription. It is very easy to set the Smart Medicine Bottle Cap to alarm 4, 3, 2 or 1 times each day.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION AND SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The Smart Medicine Bottle Cap consists of a control center (1), a cap position controlled switch (2) and a bottle cap base (3).
The control center ( 1 ) comprises of an oscillate circuit (4), a frequency division circuit (5), a dosage time setting switch (6), a buzzer ('~ and a battery (8). The oscillate circuit (4) could be any kind of oscillate circuit or a digital watch IC which can output one pulse per hour. The frequency division circuit (5) is a universal frequency division circuit. The frequency division circuit (5} could be set by dosage time setting switch (6) to divided input pulse by 6,8,12 and 24. The dosage time setting switch (6) is a standard four-shift switch. Each shift is labeled with a number. Each number indicates the number of times the alarm is to sound in one day. The control center (1) works like this: The hourly output pulses from oscillate circuit (4) axe been sent to the frequency division circuit (5). The frequency division circuit (5) divides input pulse by 6, 8, 12 and 24 controlled by the dosage times setting switch (6}. After the frequency division circuit (5), these hourly pulses become 4, 3, 2 and 1 pulse per 24 hours. The output of the frequency division circuit triggers buzzer (7) to make sound reminder every 6, 8, 12 or 24 hours as controlled by the dosage times setting switch (6). In case all shifts of the dosage time switch are at OFF position, the frequency division circuit (5) has no output and the buzzer (7) should never make sound.
y CA 02444877 2003-10-14 The cap position controlled switch (2) contains a spring contactor (9) and a fixed contactor (10). When the Smart Medicine Bottle Cap screwed on bottle, the spring contactor (9) and fixed contactor (10) should contact and turn on the control center (1):
the oscillate circuit (4) start work and output hourly pulses, the frequency circuit (5) start to calculate pulses number, after the frequency division circuit (5) get enough pulses, it trigger buzzer (7) to make sound. When the Smart Cap has been screwed off from the bottle, the spring contactor (9) and the fixed contactor {10) disconnect. The control center should be turned off and alarmed stopped. After the user eaten their medicine and screwed the cap onto bottle, the control center (1) should turn on again:
Oscillate circuit (4) begin to send out hourly pulse, frequency division circuit (5) start count pulses number until next time to trigger buzzer.
EXAMPLE OF USE:
When the patient first starts to use the bottle of medicine that has smart medicine cap, he or she should turn one of the shifts on dosage times setting switch (6) to ON
position according to the dosage frequency described in the prescription. For example, if a medicine needs to be taken 3 times per day, the shift that is labeled with number 3 should be put at ON position. After the shift is switched on, the buzzer will sound each 8 hours to remind the user to take medicine. Once the alarm starts to sound it can be turned off only when the user detaches or unscrews the cap from the bottle. In this way, the medicine user should never forget to take their medicine on time.
When medication container is not in use, the buzzer should never sound by switch all the shifts on the dosage times setting switch (6) to OFF position. If the medicine is not in use for longer time, user also can take away battery (8) to make the battery last long time.
