Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The invention is a cart for carrying garbage bags and receptacles and recycling boxes and receptacles.
While there have been other devices for carrying garbage bags or recycling boxes, they have not been convenient to use and store and there is a need for a device which may be folded fiat when not in use and which it folds out and will hold one or two recycling boxes and garbage bags or receptacles at the bottom which allows them to be easily wheeled out to the curb notwithstanding their weight.
DESCRIPTION OF PRIOR ART
While there are other devices for carrying recycling boxes and garbage bags, there have been no other devices which have the utility of folding flat when not in use and then folding out, locking in place and carrying recycling boxes and garbage receptacles. For example, Canadian Patent No.
CA2186322 to Terry A. King, is a cart which cannot be folded and whose shape is permanent. It also has the wheels located in the middle requiring the balancing of the weight and increasing the size and decreasing the manoeuverabiiity of the device.

The wheels are located centrally and not at the rear of the device reducing manoeuverability and increasing the size of the device. The device folds down into the floor of the device and not into the mainframe at the rear of the device and is significantly larger in size and therefore space occupied.
It is apparent from the foregoing that the prior art fails to have a method for loading both recycling boxes and garbage receptacles which can be easily folded, ties wheels at the rear, allowing for increased manoeuverability and with the supporting members or floors folded into the mainframe allowing it to be put away or hung up when not in use.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The invention is a device for carrying garbage bags and receptacles and recycling and recycling receptacles and boxes. The device consists of a mainframe which is the rear of the device to which is attached at the bottom two wheels on an axle. The axle runs from one member on one side of the mainframe to another member on the other side of the mainframe. At the top, the mainframe has rounded corners and is bent back at an angle of approximately 30 degrees to form a handle for pushing the device. The two sides of the mainframe are attached by two support pieces, the first located at the commencement of the curve of the handle near the top of the frame and the second located near the bottom of the frame. The support pieces go through holes in the mainframe and are attached to the mainframe by lug nuts. To the support piece at the top of the mainframe is attached a U-shaped member which has holes at the one end of the U-shaped member through an end support piece going through those holes to the mainframe. This allows the U-shaped member to pivot up and down on the supporting frame member.
Attached to the bottom of the frame is another U-shaped member which has four supporting members attached to it. The one supporting member runs perpendicular to the sides of the U-shaped member and is attached to the U-shaped member at the commencement of the curve at the corner of the U-shaped member. The three horizontal members which run horizontal to the sides of the U-shaped member are attached to the first supporting member and from there attached to the supporting member which forms part of the mainframe.
Attached at the midpoint of the front of the bottom U-shaped member is a wheel on a pivot which _ _ _e~ .; . $ . ... ,~ . , . ..z _ . ~~ . __ _ .___ pivot is attached by a fug nut.
There is a further support piece which runs perpendicular from the top U-shaped member down to one of the supporting members which is attached to the bottom U-shaped member. It is attached to the middle of the top U-shaped member and is attached to the middle of the first supporting member which joins the two sides of the bottom U-shaped member.
This member consists of two pieces, one inserted inside the other, the top piece having an inside diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of the smaller piece, both of which are round members.
They each have two holes drilled in them and a cotter pin is inserted through the holes of each of them once they are inserted, one inside the other to lock them in place. When the cotter pin is removed, they can slide together or be taken apart, allowing 'the top U-shaped member to pivot down in and be parallel to the mainframe, while the bottom U-shaped member pivots up once again parafiel to the mainframe. This makes the mainframe essentially flat and in a shape which can be hung from a wall. To further support the weight of the garbage receptacles, there are two other supporting pieces. Each are attached to the mainframe at the same point that the top supporting member is attached to the mainframe. Holes are drilled in the top of each of the supporting members and the supporting member which is attached to the mainframe is inserted through these holes and a lug nut added to the end to attach the piece to the top of the mainframe. The piece also has holes drilled in the bottom which are attached to the bottom U-shaped member at the point where the support piece attaches the two sides of the bottom U-shaped member.
The support piece goes through holes in the bottom U-shaped member through holes in the support piece and is locked in place with lug nuts or a cotter pin. When the cotter pin is removed, this allows the piece to swing down and parallel to the mainframe, so it is folded away when not in use.
Brief Description of the Drawings Figure 1, which is the representative drawing, is a perspective view of the device showing it fully opened so that the recycling bins can be added to the top U-shaped member and the garbage cans can be inserted on top of the bottom U-shaped member and supporting pieces.
Figure 2 is a front view showing the cotter pins removed and the supporting pieces, top and bottom U-shaped members pivoted parallel to the mainframe so it is flat for storage.
Figure 3 is a side view in a fully open position.
Detailec9 Description of Invention The preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated in Figure 1. The device consists of a mainframe (10) which is the rear of the device to which is attached at the bottom two wheels on an axle (40). The axle runs from one member on one side of the mainframe to another member on the other side of the mainframe. At the top, the mainframe ha s rounded corners and is bent back at an angle of approximately 30 degrees to form a handle for pushing the device. The two sides of the mainframe are attached by two support pieces (42), the first located at the commencement of the curve of the handle near the top of the frame and the second located dear the bottom of the frame. The support pieces go through holes in the mainframe and are attached to the mainframe by lug nuts (44) . To the support piece at the top of the mainframe is attached a U-shaped member (12) which has holes at the one end of the U-shaped member through an end support piece going through those holes to the mainframe. This allows the U-shaped member to pivot up and down on the supporting frame member. Attached to the bottom of the frame is another U-shaped member (18) which has four supporting members attached to it. The one supporting member (36) runs perpendicular to the sides of the U-shaped member and is attached to the U-shaped member at the commencement of the curve at the corner of the U-shaped member. The three horizontal members (26) and (28) which run horizontal to the sides of the U-shaped member are attached to the first supporting member and from there attached to the supporting member which forms part of the mainframe.
Attached at the midpoint of the front of the bottom U-shaped member is a wheel (22) on a pivot (20) which pivot is attached by a lug nut (24).
There is a further support piece (34) which runs perpendicular from the U-shaped member (12) down to one of the supporting members (36) which is attached to the bottom U-shaped member (18). It is attached to the middle of the top U-shaped member and is attached to the middle of the first supporting member (36) which joins the two sides of the bottom U-shaped member. This member consists of two pieces, one inserted inside the other, the top piece (34) having an inside diameter slightly larger than the outside diameter of the bottom piece (30), both of which are round members. They each have two holes drilled in them and a cofter pin (32) is inserted through the holes of each of them once they are inserted, one inside the other to lock them in place. When the cotter pin is removed, they can slide together or be taken apart, allowing the top U-shaped member (12) to pivot down in and be parallel to the mainframe (10), while the bottom U-shaped member (18) pivots up once again parallel to the mainframe. This makes the mainframe essentially flat and in a shape which can be hung from a wall. To further support the weight of the garbage receptacles, there are two other supporting pieces (14). each are attached to the mainframe (10) at the same point that the top supporting member (42) is attached to the mainframe. Holes are drilled in the top of each of the supporting members and the supporting member which is attached to the mainframe is inserted through these holes and a lug nut (44~) added to the end to attach the piece to the top of the mainframe. The piece also has holes drilled in the bottom which are attached to the bottom U-shaped member (18) at the point wllere the support piece attaches the two sides of the bottom U-shaped member. The support piece goes through holes in the bottom U-shaped member through holes in the support piece and is locked in place with lug nuts or a cotter pin (38). When the cotter pin is removed, this allows the piece to swing down and parallel to the mainframe, so it is folded away when not in use.
