Abstract
A dispenser for dispensing paper from a paper roll having a central core, the paper roll being characterized by a series of longitudinally spaced transverse perforated lines to ease dispensing sections of the paper; the dispenser comprises a vertical stand including a base portion to receive one end of the roll; a back portion adapted to contact a portion of the roll thereagainst and a clip portion engaging the central core. The clip portion is biased so as to maintain the portion of the roll in contact with the back portion of the stand.
Description
_1_ TITLE OF TtiE INVENTION
PAPER DISPENSER
FIELD OF Tt-tE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a dispenser for dispersing paper from a paper roll having a central core wherein the roll of paper is characterized by a series of longitudinally spaced transversed perforated lines.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
At present, the type of paper dispenser used consists of a stand that includes a base portion to receive a paper roll and a vertical stem to fit the central core of the paper roll.
This type of dispenser requires that, in order to remove sections of paper from the roll tearing along the perforated lines thereof is required involving in some cases cumbersome manipulation such as using both hands to carry out a section removal.
OBJECTS AND STATEMENT OF THE INVENTION
An object of the present invention is to provide a paper dispenser of the type described which enables easy detachment of paper sections from the paper roll.
The present invention therefore relates to a dispenser for dispensing paper from a paper roll having a central core; the roll of paper being characterized by a series of longitudinally spaced transversed perforated fines to ease dispensing of sections of paper from the roll; the dispenser comprises:
a vertical stand including a base portion to receive one end of the roll; a back portion adapted to contact a portion of the roll thereagainst; and a clip portion engaging the central core; the clip portion being biased as to maintain the portion of the roll in contact with the back portion.
In one preferred form of the invention, the opposite side edges of the back portion are shaped to facilitate easy separation of paper sections along the perforated lines on either side of the roll.
_'Z_ Other objects and further scope of applicablity of the present invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

Figure 2 is a side view of the dispenser showing the introduction of a paper roll for engagement with the dispenser;
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the combination of the dispenser of the present invention with a paper roll mounted thereon;
Figure 4 is a perspective view similar to figure 3 showing the process of detachment of a paper section along perforated lines; and Figure 5 is a perspective view of the dispenser showing the mounting of the paper roll against the back of the dispenser.
DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
Referring to figure 1, there is shown a dispenser, generally denoted 10 which consists of a vertical stand that includes a base portion 12, a vertical back portion 14 and a clip portion 16.
The base portion 12 defines a circular top wall 18 which is frontwardly and downwardly inclined; it includes however a flat circular rear area 20.
The back portion defines a segment of a cylindrical figure with a concave inner surtace 22. The upper portion displays a small frontwardly projecting stopper 24.
The clip portion 16 has a rear section 26 which is fixed to the rear surface 28 of the vertical back portion; and a curved upper section 30 extending to a downwardly inclined front portion 32. The rounded section 30 of the clip is shaped so as to bias the downward portion 32 of the clip towards the inner surface 22 of the back portion and contacts it when no paper roll is mounted to the dispenser.
Referring to figures 2, 3 and 4, the mounting of a paper roll to the dispenser of the present invention will now be described. As shown in figure 2, the mounting of a paper roll 40 is accomplished by pulling outwardly the downward portion 32 of the clip against its biased action, the downward portion 32 being inserted into the central care 42 of the roil. Once inserted, the lower edge of the roll 40 rests on the circular surface 20 of the base portion 12.
Figures 3 and 4 show the dispensing of a layer of paper so that sections thereof may be removed by exerting a force on the paper so as to detach a section from the roll along the perforated lines 44 of the paper roll.
In one preferred form of the invention, the opposite vertical side edges of the back portion are provided with frontwardly projecting V-shaped protrusions 46 and 48. Therefore, when the paper is in the position shown in figure 4, a slight pull in the direction of arrow 50 causes the paper to separate easily along the perforated lines 44.
As can be seen in figure 5, the dispenser enables a paper roll with a small thickness of paper to still be maintained against the back portion of the stand.
Although the invention has been described above with respect to one specific form, it will be evident to the person skilled in the art that it may be refined and modified in various ways without departing from the scope as defined in the following claims.
