Abstract
This unit is a self-contained entertainment center in which 1 or 2 people may sit inside and enjoy watching television, DVD with surround sound, or listening to CDs. There are also inputs for a computer and an auxiliary jack for use with video games or other devices. This unit is designed to be non-intrusive to people around the unit while eliminating outside distractions to the users. This is achieved by using sound dampening insulation between an inner and an outer shell.
Description
DESCRIPTION : This unit consists of the following parts I . An Outside shell made out of a hard plastic with metallic paint and a smooth gloss finish.
2. An inner shell made out of a rigid plastic with a black color.
3. Sound dampening insulation between the inner and outer shells.
4. A solid base made of a hard synthetic rubber compound.
5. A molded plastic template with cutouts for the television monitor, right and left front speakers, two cooling fans, DVD/CD/receiver, and two storage spaces.
6. A supporting shelf spanning the distance between the right and left walls and from the template to the front tip of the unit and approximately halfway between the floor and the ceiling.
7. An entry door with a long hinge along the entire top edge of the door.
8. Two pistons, one on either side .of the door, affixed to pins on the main body of the unit.
9. A cushioned seat with cushioned backrest with a cloth covering. The bottom portion of the seat slides forward while the backrest reclines.
10. A subwoofer located under the seat.

12. A table consisting of two pieces of rigid plastic with a hinge adjoining the two pieces and a hinge joining one piece to the left side wall. This table while folded will rest against the wall. When the table is extended it will rest on a ledge built into the molded inner shell and will slide backward and forward in a groove in the left side wall.
13. A ledge built into the molded inner shell on right side wall on which the table will rest when extended.
14. A groove in which the hinge assembly slides.
15. A television monitor mounted at the top center of the front wall with power and video connections to the receiver.
16. A DVD/CD/receiver mounted directly below the monitor. The receiver has a built in 999 channel digital/analog tuner with an outside co-axial connection, DVD/TV/computer/auxiliary selection controls, and a DVD/CD player. The main power is controlled through the receiver and the power eord runs from it to the outside of the iEC.
17. Left and right front speakers located directly beside the receiver and TV monitor.
18. DVD/CD storage areas located directly beside each front speaker.
19. Two air circulation fans, one on each side wall directly in front of each reax speaker, which blow fresh air into the capsule for breathing and comfort.
20. Two air exhaust fans, one on each side of the TV
monitor and directly above each front speaker, with the dual purpose of expelling air and cooling the electronic components.

21. A grille which allows exhaust air to exit.
22. Computer jack on the bottom of the receiver to link the computer to the monitor.
23. Auxiliary jack for the hook-up of video games or other accessories.

Claims (2)
1. The Insular Entertainment Capsule (IEC) is unique in that it is the first surround sound entertainment center in which the users sit inside the unit.
2. The IEC is non-intrusive whereas traditional entertainment systems may disturb people even in adjacent rooms or floors.
