Abstract
A container made with at least one aluminum alloy used to store celery.
Description
ALUMINUM ALLOY CELERY CONTAINER
Technical Field of the Invention This invention relates to containers. More particularly, it relates to containers made from at least one aluminum alloy that may be used to extend the period of time over which celery maintains its freshness. It also relates to a method of extending the period of time over which celery maintains its freshness.
Background to the Invention Since the advent of refrigeration, the problem of spoilage of food has been greatly reduced. However, even with refrigeration, if food is kept too long, it spoils. As a result, there is a need for an easy method that will further extend the life expectancy of food.
Methods of wrapping food with plastic wrap are well known. This marginally extends the life expectancy of food. In addition, it is known that the life expectancy of celery can be extended through wrapping the food with pliable aluminum foil.
It is also known that some containers can be designed to contain food. For instance, expired Canadian patent 917,115 discloses a plastic foodstuff container that is adapted for the storage of celery or other similar vegetables.
Summate of the Invention The present invention is directed to a container made with at least one aluminum alloy used to store celery.
In an alternative embodiment, the present invention is directed to a cylindrical container made with at least one aluminum alloy, the container being used to store celery, and having a removable and replaceable top that impairs the ingress and egress of air.
In yet another embodiment, the present invention is directed to a method of lengthening the time period over which celery remains fresh by storing the celery in a container made with at least one aluminum alloy.
Detailed Description of the Invention The container of this invention is made from at least one aluminum alloy and in use, it stores celery. The aluminum alloy used to form the container advantageously extends the storage life of the celery.
The container may take any convenient shape. For ease of use and efficiency in storage, the container may approximate the shape and size of the celery that it is intended to store.
The container has a part that allows celery to be placed into the container.
Such a part may be a top that is removable and replaceable. It would normally facilitate placement of the celery as well as impair the ingress and egress of moisture and air into the container.
Any type of top that performs these functions will suffice, but normally such a top would be relatively closely fitted to the container. However, in lieu of a top, or in addition to a top, any sealing means may be employed, provided it facilitates placement of celery into the container and impair the ingress and egress of moisture and air into the container. For instance, if part of the container is flexible, a zipper seal might be employed, or any other means might be used to seal and unseal the cont<~iner.
