Abstract
"In a 'Planter' for planting small plants, it is known to have a base for the soil. The planter sits on the rail of the patio/deck. In this invention, a privacy screen is added to the back of the planter such that it extends upward and along the back of it. The lattice screen may have a hook on one side and a donut-shaped ring on the other side - in order for each planter to connect to a companion planter, this, however, is optional.

TITLE: PLANTER WITH PRIVACY SCREEN
Specification:
1. This invention relates to a functional object (namely a Privacy Planter) that sits on the rail 30 of a patio/deck. The planter base 10 holds small plants and with the invention, has a lattice screen 20 for privacy. The lattice screen being part of the planter and forming an extension to the back 12 of the planter base, is the invention.

2. It is common in patio planters to provide an area in the base of the planter, for planting small plants. The planter, whilst providing a planting area, lacks the ability to provide privacy. It is favorable, when living in close proximity to one's neighbors and where unlawful to construct a fence or screen, such as in condominium dwelling, that one receives privacy.
3. I have found that the disadvantage of not having privacy when using a regular planter may be overcome by adding to a planter mould I O a lattice-type privacy screen 20 making it one complete mould. Alternately, the screen 20 may be secured to the base 10 by appropriate means. Such a planter would permit the user to care for their plants and use their patio/deck with some degree of privacy.
In drawings that illustrate the embodiments of the invention, Figure 1 is a front view of the patio/deck planter base 10 that has slits 14 for engaging or seating the planter on the rail 30 of a patio/deck. Figure 2 is a front view of the invention addition, a privacy lattice-type screen 20 with attachments 16 (hook and donut-shaped ring) for securing two or more privacy planters together (optional). Figure 3 is the planter complete with the invention addition, being a privacy screen, making one mould.
