Abstract

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de transférer de l'argent d'un expéditeur à un destinataire au moyen d'une carte de souhaits électronique et d'un réseau informatique tel qu'Internet. L'expéditeur visite un site Web de cartes de souhaits électroniques, sélectionne une carte de souhait à envoyer et identifie le destinataire, une adresse de courrier électronique du destinataire, un montant d'argent à transférer, et un compte de retrait à partir duquel l'argent doit être transféré. Ledit compte de retrait peut être un compte chèques, un compte chèques sécurisé par un compte de porteur de carte ou un compte de porteur de carte. L'argent est transféré du compte de retrait et, de préférence, est déposé sur un compte de contrôle. Le serveur envoie automatiquement un courrier électronique au destinataire par Internet, pour l'informer que l'expéditeur a fait envoyer une carte de souhaits électronique et demande au destinataire de visiter un site Web afin de recevoir ladite carte. Le destinataire visite ledit site et est invité à visiter un second site Web afin d'accomplir un transfert de fonds. Après avoir visité le second site Web, le destinataire identifie un compte de dépôt, sur lequel l'argent doit être transféré. Le compte de dépôt peut être un compte de dépôt direct, un compte de porteur de carte ou une adresse d'envoi destinée à la livraison physique d'un chèque papier. L'argent est mis à disposition du destinataire en l'espace d'environ quatre jours ouvrables, si le compte de retrait est un compte chèques et en 24 heures si le compte de retrait est un compte chèques sécurisé par un compte de porteur de carte ou un compte de porteur de carte. L'argent est alors, de préférence retiré du compte de contrôle et déposé sur le compte de dépôt.
