Abstract
In a tool for cutting tape it is known to have some sort of securing surface and a edge for cutting tape as it is pulled over it. In this invention there is a single piece of stamped steel or cast plastic made in a box shape with an open area at its bottom to allow the invention to be placed over a roll of adhesive or non adhesive tape.The invention will allow tape to be pulled off the roll and severed on one of the cutting edges on either side but does not secure the tape to itself in any fashion.

Specifications This invention relates to a manually operated tool or cutter for removing desired lengths of tape off a roll.It is common for devises that cut tape to hold the tape suspended from its roll and have a cutting surface on the same plane.Tape is normally pulled from a roll to a desired length then pulled down onto the cutting surface and severed at this point.Another means of cutting tape is by using scissors , blades,or a tape dispensor with a built in cutter making for vne more tool to be squired or added cost of a dispensor.
I have found that these disadvantages can be overcome by making a stamped metal or plastic clip that slides over the roll of tape and allows free movement of the tape within for dispensing purposes,no large or costly dispensor,and no need for blades or scissors.The tape cutter clip has a cutting surface on both sides serrated or straight to sever the tape when pulled against it.To use the tape cutter clip one has to pull the tape off the roll to a desired lenght holding the tape cutter clip between thumb and forefinger which allows the tape to roll freely in the tape cutter clip.When a desired lenght is reached simply pull the tape against the tape cutter clip to cut.Note the tape cutter clip does not hold the tape suspended from roll it comes on.
