Abstract
Bath seats are used by the disabled or infirm because they cannot get down into, or up from a regular bathtub. Their only way to bathe at present is to use conventional tub seats which perch them above the water, never allowing a warm soak.
The Porta-Tub is a vertical box insert of stiff plastic that allows the bather to soak to the waist while seated at chair height inside a bathtub. Bathers enter and leave via a doorway, providing ease, safety and independence. The Porta-Tub is filled with water using a portable shower head.
Porta-Tub would be a light weight insert made entirely of strong plastic material. It would require no installation or home modification.

Description
Saturday Night Bath or "POrta-Tilb'~
Concept for a "soak in the tub" - a freestanding bathtub insert that allows independent bathing in one's own tub, for the elderly and mobility impaired, that is affordable, as easy to use as any tub seat, but the only concept that allows soaking of the lower body and legs.
The soaking is most helpful in improving circulation, decreasing stiffness, Irreventing infections of the perineum where there is incontinence.
The seat height and security allow independence in bathing - no need for someone else to assist in most instances. Privacy in bathing is so important.
It will be especially helpful to Home Care programs who now have budget restraints and are hesitant to put homemakers into homes just for bathing, leaving people insecure. Renting, or purchasing these tub inserts may obviate the need for homemakers in many cases of temporary need. Institutions /'hospitals would also welcome this insert.
Purchase, where permanent, will be about the same price as a tub seat, but much more satisfactory, as the lower part of the body is immersed; and safer for the user (no water getting outside the tub, on the floor, to slip on.) To be used with one's own hand-held personal showerhead.
Made of moulded plastic. Inexpensive.
Two pieces.- no assembly required.
Strong.Light weight.Easily portable.
Stackable, therefore easily shipped and stocked.
Used in either a bathtub or a shower stall.
Easy access for stiff legs, or poor balance.
Used in either a bath tub, or a shower stall.
