Abstract

La présente invention concerne un module rotatif (10) permettant la mise en oeuvre d'un processus d'adsorption modulée en pression. Ce module comprend un stator (14) pourvu d'une pluralité de compartiments fonctionnels débouchant dans les façades de soupapes du stator, un rotor (11) couplé rotatif au stator et incluant une pluralité d'orifices débouchant dans les façades de soupapes du rotor, et un joint de soupape du type à reprise automatique de jeu monté entre les façades de soupapes du stator et du rotor de façon à réguler le débit de gaz entre le stator et le rotor. Chaque joint de soupape, qui présente une face étanche venant contre la face étanche correspondante des façades de soupape du rotor, est capable de rotation par rapport à la façade considérée de soupapes du rotor de façon à moduler le débit de gaz en fonction du jeu entre la face du joint et la façade de soupapes correspondante du rotor. Chaque joint de soupape comprend également un passage en communication avec l'un des compartiments fonctionnels de façon à faire varier le jeu en fonction d'un différentiel de pression entre le passage et une ouverture se rapprochant. De cette façon, le joint de soupape conserve un profil lisse de transition de pression pendant l'inversion des chemins bas entre compartiments fonctionnels. Il en résulte que l'on ne modifie pas l'équilibre entre le matériau adsorbant et le front de transfert de masse du gaz, et ce, tout en augmentant l'efficacité du processus de séparation des gaz.
