Abstract

The present invention provides for a track for use in constructing metal stud walls. The track is a generally U shaped channel having a base and upstanding sidewalls extending along either side of the base. The base is provided with a plurality of evenly spaced holes therethrough along the length of the base. The spacing of the holes provides a guide for the proper spacing of studs placed in the base. The location of the holes in the base provides a guide hole for the fastener used to attach the track to a floor or ceiling. Preferably the spacing between the holes in the base is 4 inches, the holes are provided as two spaced apart lines of holes extending along the length of the base, and the two lines of holes are offset from each other.

Claims (4)

1. A track for use in constructing metal stud walls, the track comprising a generally U shaped channel having a base and upstanding sidewalls extending along either side of the base, the base being provided with a plurality of evenly spaced holes therethrough along the length of the base, the spacing of the holes providing a guide for the proper spacing of studs placed in the base for constructing the stud wall and the location of the holes in the base providing a guide hole for the fastener used to attach the track to a floor or ceiling.
2. A track according to claim 1 wherein the spacing between the holes in the base is 4 inches.
3. A track according to claim 2 wherein the holes are provided as two spaced apart lines of holes extending along the length of the base of the track
4. A track according to claim 3 wherein the holes in the two lines of holes are offset from each other.
